Crouchie for england!
great link play, virtually unplayable in the air with his back to goal, 7 goals in 8 games.
I reckon crouch could be a great asset for england in germany, even if its an option off the bench.
What you reckon fellas?

He brings something to the squad that none of the other strikers have.
Owen & Rooney are the 2 starters obviously.
But Vassel n Defoe are too similar.
Bents not proven.
Crouch should be part of the squad

Crouch should be in the squad, not in the starting XI but he should be first choice off the bench if we're strugging for a goal, he offers us something different to anyone else and defenders don't know what to deal with him. He has a good touch and is a capable goalscorer, though I think he needs the confidence before he starts scoring consistently. He never had it at Villa and it took him a few onths to find it at Liverpool and Southampton, he offers us something new and different though and he's been the surprise package of the season really.
A definite for the squad in my opinion, and the other striker should be between Vassell, Bent and Defoe, whoever scores the most this season (Although I believe AJ and Ashton would be worth consideration if they were still in the premiership, its only a matter of time before they're back)

If Crouch plays any part of the World Cup id lose any shred of faith I still had in Errikson as a coach. Crouch is average at best, **** mobility, basically someone to lump the ball to and hope he heads it on to a competent striker a la Duncan Ferguson....now I know I love seeing Liverpool with ****y centre forwards, but can you please stop buying English ones as Errikson seems to ****in bum them as soon as they go to Liverpool. You get rid of that donkey Heskey, he never plays for England again, you get Crouch, he miraculously gets a call up. STOP IT!! If youre gonna buy a ****y centre forward buy a foreign one like Diouf again. Rant over

Crouch came on and changed the Argentina game for England. How quickly people forget...
He should get a bench role in the squad. Defenders dont know how to deal with him.

Riquelme going off and Cole coming on won it for England, not Crouchy. Still he will end up going as outside of Owen and Rooney the options are very poor.

I'd like Sven to take Crouch to Germany. He's obviously not gonna be a starter but can come on as a sub and cause a bit of mischief. Rooney and Owen should be the starters, with maybe Defoe and Crouch second choice.

Benitez and Sven, picked crouch when has wasnt scoring, because they have the nous to see he still contributes to the general build up play, and therefore helps his team.
If england are struggling to keep the ball upfront against well marshalled defence, get crouch on. He will win flick ons, keep possesion of the ball and bring lampard, rooney, gerrard, etc into play.
Crouch has contributed greatly to liverpools improved league form this season. Liverpool lost possesion far too cheaply, especially away from home last season, but with crouchs help are able to keep the ball more, and dominate possesion.
Crouch isnt the perfect striker, far from it, but he is a definite option for england and the mongs who booed him at OT havent got a mr magoo.

crouch will come off the bench in the world cup and score thats my prediction .Just call me mystic meg.
anyway crouch contributes more to a team effort than owen does ,if owen doesn't score half the time he's invisible.
when pace doesn't work what will england do ? thats why I would put crouch in the squad myself .Its common sense if anything.
to be fair though ,I never thought englands striking options would be so shallow ,theres no strength in depth in there at all ,sad reflection on our league ,we could put out nearly a team full of defenders but strikers? hardly
defoe has spent time on the bench at tottenham ,does bent have the class for a step up to international level ?

Luckily rooney is so good, he counts for 2 strikers. so England aren't really short on strikers.
Nah seriously, i think Rooney is not all about pace, he can hold up the ball well and bring the midfielders into play. He is excellent at linking up play as well.
Crouch should be in the squad and be 1st choice off bench at the moment. Depends how Crouch and Defoe perform in the next 5 months or so to determine who should be 1st choice off bench for world cup.

If he continues to play like he has been doing, for the rest of the season then I can certainly see him being selected for the England squad. But if that wont happen I'll still be happy for the same reasons that Opal just mentioned. I'd rather have him back fresh for a new season.

7 goals in 8 appearances to Liverpool fans, to other people who haven't forgotten the first half of the season, it must be about 7 goals in 20 something appearances.
I wouldn't include him in the Liverpool side at full strength, so he sure as hell wouldn't get in my England side, but hey, I'm not the expert right?
Why on earth do we need a 'different option' to Michael Owen and Wayne Rooney? Arguably the best strikeforce on the International scene. I'd be a whole lot more frightened of Emile Heskey or Dean Ashton to be quite honest, in comparison to someone with wrists like a five year old child and a body build like a starving ethiopian, I know that much.

Ah but thats the thing, Crouch comes on and defenders think "WTF IS THAT? A DADDY LONG LEGS ON SPEED??!!!" and he ambles into them in the box, they run away screaming and Rooney pops in the winner. Job done

You see, we've seen both Heskey and Crouch play on a regular basis and regardless of what they look like and how their built, Heskey was a ****house and Crouch will fight for a ball. And why do we need a different option? Because in a football team you need as many as possible. IIf your tactically inept and have no idea of the game you might think that all you do is pick the best players and they'll win the game when realistically teams have weaknesses that yous hould exploit. Imagine playing a team with loads of pace and ability at the back but there all 5 ft 5 tall and ****e on set pieces. Then you use the different option.

 Owen's 5 ft 8 or 7 still heads better than a 6 foot 2 in Frenchman.
