Can the Scottish league survive on the backs of two clubs? The other clubs have little to no effect on the leaders. When the difference bettween #2 and #3 is 20 pionts then there is a problem. In other leagues were a few teams dominate at least the smaller clubs are some what near the top. In Turkey Galatasaray, Fenerbahçe, and Besiktas are always on top, but the smaller teams are not that far off. In Portugaul Porto, Sporting, and Benfica are the big names, but the other teams can cause dents in the run to the top. These leagues are not as sad as Scottland's.. When the winner has over 100 points, you can tell there is a problem.

I think some income would be lost but it would not be as much as previously expected.
One reason for this is the current deal with BBC for the live matches. Most of the games cover the OF away from home, and it has been proven that the home team have lost on average of about 4,000 off the gate because it was on tv.
However the OF loose no money yet the amount for that game is split unfairly with the OF getting a larger share of the money.

With a few culbs winning it could make some money. It would be nice to see someone else win other than the two. When the little clubs see that they have a chance in hell they will get more support and more people will come to the stadiums to see matches that actually mater.

If rangers and Celtic left the SPL, the SPL would lose it's global appeal, if it's got any now, simple as.

And we are back to the old chestnut of the OF going into the English leagues.....would it be better for Scottish soccer in the long term...yes...will it ever happen...probably not.

If the OF leave does Glasgow have another team. If they don't, what could be done is make a a few new clubs for the city. Smaller clubs that would not be cash bags.

I think the SPL is in a position like the Dutch Eredivisie. Only we've got three top teams, Feyenoord, Ajaks and P$V. And as you all might know, Feyenoord is the only class team of those three . But there have been plans for a Atlantic League (with the top-clubs from Belgium, Scotland, Portugal and Holland) and plans to put the Dutch top-3 in the German Bundesliga, or a BeNeLiga (Belgium and Holland). I don't think this would help anything, plus it would be a crime to do this to the fans. I'dd much rather go to Feyenoord - FC Utrecht (to name just a club from Holland, eh Tanghe?) than Feyenoord - Boavista/AA Gent/Energie Cottbuss, plus the away matches will be too expensive to visit for a lot of people.

About the Champions league spot. Every team has a right to a place really so no we should loose it.
The Old Firm think that they are that great yet they cannot produce in Europe. They try to blame this on the other teams but why is it our fault when other teams were quite capable of producing results in Europe in the 80's and it is quite clearly the Old Firm who are to blame.
An example of the current state of affairs is that people are getting worked up because Celtic have meade the 4th round of the UEFFA cup. This is the first time they have ever knocked Spanish opposition out of Europe and also the first time they have been in Europe after christmas in 23 years.
In that 23 years Aberdeen have won European honours and Dundee United have played Barcelona four times and beaten them four times.
