Real Madrid eye Ancelotti
Quote:
Channel4.com
Real Madrid’s Italian connection has confirmed that the Spanish club is looking to Carlo Ancelotti for the future of the side.
“Wanderley Luxemburgo’s contract expires in June,” explained agent Ernesto Bronzetti in the Guerin Sportivo. “The man in pole position to take over is Ancelotti, who is liked by President Florentino Perez, director Arrigo Sacchi and the entire technical staff.”
This not the first time that the Milan Coach has been linked to Madrid, although it is rare to find such a public confirmation from someone so close to the club.
“Obviously Luxemburgo’s future is tied in with the team’s results, but we are tracking Ancelotti very carefully.”
There is already a positive history of Italian tacticians at the Bernabeu, as Fabio Capello won the Liga title with Real Madrid in 1996-97. The arrival of former Milan and Parma boss Sacchi as director of sport has also increased the Serie A connections at the club.
Rossoneri Vice-President Adriano Galliani today assured that Ancelotti’s position is not in doubt, but it’s commonly believed that if he ends the season empty-handed once again, he will be released in order to take over in Madrid.
“Bronzetti has been a friend for 20 years and I have no problem with him, but if we resisted the offers for Andriy Shevchenko then we can hold on to Ancelotti,” said Galliani. “He has a contract until 2007 and he will respect it.”

I'd stay clear of the Real Madrid job if I was him.

MILAN - Adriano Galliani spoke about Carlo Ancelotti's contract: 'Ancelotti has a contract until 2007 and he will respect it. We managed to resist Shevchenko leaving and we will resist in this situation as well.' In his role as football league president, he also called on the building of new stadiums: 'The problem is not the football but that you can't see well and get wet when it rains.'

Yeah we'll see how much his contract is honored when Milan wins nothing this season.

I don't know how long the board can put up with Milan being runner up in everything, so if he fails to deliver this season I reckon he'll be out. And with Milan's recent record I wouldn't rule them out from winning nothing.

Ancelotti's style of play would do Real some good I think.

With Real's recent run of results they may have to seriously consider renewing Luxe's contract.
