In the first ever game for AFC Wimbledon 4654 fans (official figures) packed Sutton United's Gander Green Lane. There were so many people they had to delay the kick off for 45 minutes.
The Wimbledon fans sung from start to finish cheering on the new dons, and attacking crystal palace, Milton Keynes and Charles Koppell with every opportunity. They were relentless - creating an amazing atmosphere.
The match itself was good. Wimbledon played with a lot of flair - their midfielders played a few tricks with the ball. Their lack of playing as a team started to unravel in the second half when Matt Gray (Sutton's winger) and Kevin Cooper ripped their defence apart - their defence looked very shaky. Sutton deservedly won but 4 -0 was a little too complimentary. As regards the Dons their fans sang long after the match had finished and a large majority of their fans went on the pitch to cheer on their new team.
On the plus side AFC Wimbledon's side looked good in the first half. They had a classy midfielder - cant remember his name (he was 17 or thereabouts) who could play. They passed the ball well - they should climb out of the combined league at the first attempt - at least with the great following they have got.

With the old system they were..
Sutton United is in the Ryman Premier
Ryman Division 1
Ryman Division 2
Ryman Division 3
Than combined counties - Wimbledon
I think they've messed around with the Ryman league now - so they might only be 3 leagues below Sutton United
AFC Wimbledon will be playing against far inferior opposition so they have a great chance

Bromley 2-1 Wimbledon.
Quite a big crowd, prolly bout 1800.
I have to say they we're poor and lucky we they didn't loose by 4 or 5 (bromley hit bar twice). i didn't notice one player who stood out for them, but saying that their goal was quite impressive (30 yard volley)

Well i have to say i haven't seen fans so stuck up and oblivious to non league football in my life (not talking to previous poster) they have been spoilt by league football and were all talking about how the grounds are really small, and didn't know that you are ment to change ends at half time (fans) they were singing your supposed to be at home, when most non league teams only have about 100-200 supporters so they cant make that much noise. overall i wasn't impressed.
To previous poster. Charles Koppel is moving Wimbledon to milton keyns 70 miles away from Sw19, so the real support started up their own club called AFC Wimbledon, they have been voted into the combined counties league which is the feeder league to the ryman leagues. they have a ground share with kingstonian and have sold over 600 season tickets.
still haven't won yet

Good luck to AFC anyway..............
