Bolton vs Liverpool

Dudek

Josemi Hyypia Carra Riise

Garcia Alonso Gerrard Kewell

Cisse Baros

I know kewell hasnt been at his best of late, but hes still good enough to perservere with.

Leaving Hammann out is tough, but you dont pay 10.7m to keep someone on the bench. Throw him straight in i reckon.

Drop Kewell to show him his place is under threat.

Looks about right that team is, take Kewell off half time if he's playing poorly.

Yeah, i reckon thats our team. Agree on Hamann too, id find it hard to leave him out but payin that much for a player ur likely to play him. Garcia could be the interesting one as right wing was the obvious weak link in the first games.

As has been said, its masively hard to leave Didi out, and I aint so sure he will be, I have a feeling Benitez may start with him and bring Xabi on later. he seems to like to use all his subs, and does it well, and with us being away, I think we MIGHT see Didi start. its just a thought like.

Alonso's thoughts...

XABI ALONSO PREVIEWS BOLTON V LIVERPOOL
Paul Eaton 27 August 2004

New boy Xabi Alonso is hoping to make his Liverpool debut at Bolton this weekend. Here he gives his pre-match thoughts to the club's website.

Xabi, why did you choose to come to Liverpool?

When I heard that Liverpool were interested in me I was very excited because I know all about the history of the club. They are a very important club in England and in Europe. I am delighted to be here and very happy to play for Liverpool. The supporters are great and I can't wait to start playing.

Was the fact that Rafael Benitez is here help draw you to the club?

It was important because he knows me, he understands what kind of player I am and he knows what I can give to the team. As soon as the manager told me he wanted me it was an easy decision to make. There may have been interest from other clubs but I knew I wanted to come here.
What sort of qualities will you bring to the team?

I have always played as a midfielder and I like to organise the game and control the ball. I hope I can play to a good level here and help the team be successful. It's going to be difficult to get into the team because there are so many good players here, but I have been training every day and now it's up to the manager whether he selects me or not.

Do you think you can form a good partnership with Steven Gerrard?

I hope so. Steven is a great player. I watched the last two games at Anfield and I was very impressed with him. I'd like to think we can work well together in the team but I also know there are other good players here as well. I'm not taking anything for granted. I'm certainly looking forward to playing alongside Steven though. He's one of the best around.
How keen are you to play against Bolton this weekend?

I want to play. I haven't spoken to the manager about it yet but I'm sure before the game we'll talk about it and the boss can make a decision. I don't know too much about Bolton but I've heard they are a strong, battling team and theywill make it hard for us. We need to play well on the day and use our skill to try and get a good result.
Do you expect Liverpool to be challenging for the title this season?

Yes, I do. They are all very good teams but we have good players as well and if we continue working hard and learn about what Rafa wants us to do then we'll have a good chance. We certainly have a very competitive team.

I can defo see them scoring. I think thats just because every time they do, that cock with the I feel good flag runs up and down, with I Feelo Good playing, and it just gives me bad flash backs.

Honestly speaking, I like Henchoz at the back
Loved the Henchoz-Hypia combi in all honesty
Hamann can sit back more

Let's rape them and get a clean sheet!
Though I think Okocha, Ferdinand can be threats
Nolan, Campo and Speed are quality players to be fair

Rafael Benitez says he might hand new signings Xabi Alonso and Luis Garcia starting roles in Sunday's Premiership clash at Bolton Wanderers.
The Spanish pair have impressed the Reds manager in training and he says he could well give them debuts at Bolton.

Benitez said: "Perhaps Xabi Alonso and Luis Garcia will start the game. They understand what I want to do and it's a possibility. They are both intelligent players who will improve the team and have trained well."

Benitez said he is looking forward to Sunday's match at Bolton and meeting up with a former player of his in Ivan Campo.

Benitez said "I worked with Ivan Campo at Valladolid in Spain and he is a good player. He is an important player in the Bolton team and he controls the midfield.

"We have had Bolton watched and I know about them. I speak to Alex Miller every day and we have watched videos of them playing.

"We are trying to improve the level of our team and we are looking to build on our second half performance against Manchester City. I have an idea and if we work properly and work together then we can achieve things."

He is meticulous in preparation. He used to have cameras installed round the Metsalla, to capture exactly how much work every player was doing in a game.

Another possibility, if hes fed up with kewell substandard last couple of outings could be, to drop him and play garcia on the left.

It would certainly fit in with resting hammann on tues, this team

DUDEK

JOSEMI CARRA HYYPIA RIISE

GERRARD ALONSO HAMMANN GARCIA

BAROS CISSE

Just a thought...

Dont like Steevie on the right though. I wouldnt drop Kewell, he is one of those players who can win you a match in the blink of an eye, and on his day, he is still world class. Agaisnt City he showed it after a shaky start. He was poor on tuesday, but then so where loads of them.
