Arrow Happy Birthday, Captain!

Thirty-six years old but not feeling them. June 26 is not a normal day for the Rossoneri, but a special one: Paolo Maldini celebrates his 36th birthday. Best wishes to the captain and most of all plenty of complements. Because for 19 years Maldini has played a prominent role in the history of Milan and football; because for 19 years he has run faster than the others, chasing opponents but also success; because for 19 years Maldini has been an example for everyone. The captain's birthday this year can be celebrated after another successful season for Carlo Ancelotti's team, who were crowned Italian champions for the 17th time. But apart from the results on the pitch, Paolo's 2003-04 season was unforgettable for what he was able to do. Once again. And his obstinacy rewards him with another prestigious record: next season will be his 20th in a Rossonero jersey, one more than legendary captain Franco Baresi and the unforgettable Gianni Rivera. This confirms that Maldini is doing something extraordinary. Unbelievable, unique. There is probably no adjective to describe him properly: praises and acknowledgements are wasted on him. But when you just look at him or listen him speak, you can't but notice that the star Maldini has simply remained the old Paolo, the boy he has always been. His secret? Difficult to say, but probably he gave himself the easiest explanation: the enthusiasm, the love for Milan and football. And just this surge, this inexhaustible passion will continue to make the difference. Still for a long time. Happy birthday, captain!

Happy birthday indeed for such a wonderful servent to the game and such a quality footballer. It is also a year to the day since Marc Vivien Foe died.

Auguri Paolo!
I hope you'll soon enjoy your well deserved retirement, and step back from the stressy Serie A.

I a couple of years time when he might consider retirement, we might be looking for a new icon. I suggest upfront Cassano

in ore of Maldini

Happy Birthday indeed to one of the best players not only in Italy but in the World. I have to say that a player of his class doesn't come around very often.........he is a wonderful player, and hopefully it will be a few more years yet before he leaves us, but i have to say that the prospect of loosing him is worrying. Is there anyone that can really step into the shoes of such a legend, if there is then i suggest from a Milan fans perspective, that they find that man and land him, before someone else has the privilage of such a fine player, wearing there jersey!

Happy birthday Paolo..........

Bob
