Craig Bellamy's long-term future at Newcastle United is in question this morning.
It emerged yesterday that the striker was summoned to St James' Park on Tuesday for a meeting with Newcastle's chairman Freddy Shepherd at which Shepherd made plain his annoyance with Bellamy and the Welshman's attitude over the past few months.

Bellamy was said to have left St James' looking subdued, though in confirming their meeting Shepherd would say only: "What was said was private. The matter is now closed."

But it is understood Newcastle will be willing to listen to offers for Bellamy once he recovers from his knee surgery last month. He is expected to play again in late January or early February and, if he proves his fitness, Newcastle would look to recoup the £6m they paid Coventry.

Well, hard nut to crack he seems to be so maybe listing will be a remedy for his behaviour. If not sell him good bye. But first lets have someone to cover his position. Where are the possible targets for the front line?

is it a rumour or officialy some steps have been taken?
deFoe is good but I`d rather see Ameobi play so DeFoe would be the backup. Any top strikers to arrive at SJP?

Heres the story:

West Ham United striker Jermain Defoe is the latest player to be linked with a January move to St James’ Park.

The 21-year-old England hopeful was sent off for the second time this season during the Hammers’ 4-3 defeat by West Brom at the weekend, prompting renewed speculation that he is on his way out of Upton Park.

For a change his rumoured destination isn’t now Old Trafford, as has been reported for the past 12 months, but Newcastle.

The pacey forward has an impressive record for a youngster of 43 goals in 118 league appearances, although 18 of them came during a loan spell at Bournemouth three years ago, but sullied his reputation by handing in a transfer request less than 24 hours after West Ham were relegated at the end of last season.

Heard of no one else linked for a while.
