Who should be penalty taker for next season, aka anyone but Robben

Well Robben may have single-handedly lost us two cups this season with his penalty misses, so the question is who should take his place. For me it's not whether, it's who.

Let me just say the order of the penalty takers. Robben is #1, Gomez, then Schweinsteiger.

My option is Alaba at the moment. He's 19 years old, but he's taken the first penalty both vs BMG and Madrid at their own stadium and slotted it in no problem. For a 19 year old to have balls of steel to shoot it like that, he deserves respect and to be tried at least as the new penalty taker. The others for me simply don't have the guts to do it. Lahm and Kroos missed vs Madrid, Schweini missed in the final, Robben I have no words for, Gomez also missed an important penalty vs Napoli away. He seems to score them even though it always feels like if you guess his side, you'll save it.

Frankly at this point, I wish we had someone like Ronaldo. Someone who you know will score it when it comes down to it, and not bottle it.

So definitely my choice is Alaba. I definitely do not want Robben to be shooting them and will be quite pissed if Jupp allows it as well.

Lahm is your Captian, and IMO should be the go to guy... also Kroos is wicked on spot kicks, this should translate to good PK's... would be a good alternate maybe. Mental toughness is very important too, and let's face it not many stepped up in the final and half of those who did failed. Bastian, Robben, and Olic must equally share the blame.. but Bayern should have never put themselfs in this position! Again mental toughness lacking!

p.s. the manager should decide on the mental toughness he would know much better then any of us... and obviously he failed too!

Kroos definitely isn't the guy. He was supposed to shoot one in the final but due to him and Tymoschuk not being confident enough, Olic had to step up instead and then he missed. Add to that he missed his pen vs Madrid as well, he shouldn't be an option imo.

Maybe not now as he is still a kid and immature. But with experience his confidence will grow and he could be the one.

Schweinsteiger; he usually gets them, and the miss against Chelsea was a one-off. After that, it would have to be Gomez.

Bayern just had a friendly with Wolfsburg, won 2-1. Had a penalty first half, Robben didn't take but instead Mandzukic did.

This may give us a hint that Robben is no longer the #1 penalty taker.

I wouldn't be for either Ribery or Kroos. Ribery had around 60%+ converting rate, around 2/3 which is quite horrible in his 3 year cycle he was the penalty taker.

Kroos missed the penalty in Madrid, and he was supposed to be one of the penalty takers to take one in Munich.. but he wimped out of it. A player who takes the penalty needs to have the balls to take a penalty during any situation. For example, Lahm missed in Madrid and went first to take one in Munich. Though I still don't think he's the captain material we need, that takes guts and Kroos went the opposite way. He then tried to put the blame on others stating there were others who could have taken it in the media. I don't think Kroos has the mentality (at least for a few years) to be a reliable penalty taker, even though he has a great football IQ and fantastic technical skill in terms of shooting.

In terms of converting, Robben, Schweini and Gomez have generally been good. Robben made I think 11 in a row, then missed the 2 most important pens of his career. Schweini has missed 2 with Bayern, but made quite a few with Germany and Bayern. Though he did not take the one vs Italy, that was very weak from Piggy. Gomez has done well but his pens are generally very poorly taken, I've only seen 1 out of 7-8 that was well taken which was in the CL final. His usually fool the keeper but seem the type that if you guess right, you're stopping it

So Muller is currently the penalty taker, and Alaba #2 in case he doesn't start.
