Good player but Blackpool or midtable is his level.

Perfect for you.

Holloway must love that all the attention Adam is getting is distracting away from Vaughan who has been far better imo.

I honestly don't see it.

He's a neat and tidy footballer, easy on the eye, but that's about it for me.

I like him and he'd add more depth to our squad for sure, but I hope he stays at Blackpool because I'd hate to see him come here and then warm the bench when he could've easily stayed at Blackpool and helped them to ensure their premiership status.

I'm not saying he's worse/better than what we already have, what I'm saying is I'd hate to see him sign and for it not to work out for him for whatever reason.

But one thing is for sure gentlemen,we fvcking badly need to add depth to our squad.

I think he's a neat and tidy player and a great passer who would be perfect alongside a ball winner in the middle of the park with Gerrard back behind Torres. Just because a player develops later than others doesn't make him bad, look at someone like Tim Cahill or Jagielka and both of them have become top class Premier League players.
It's funny how City fans are now playing the "big I am" but where was Dzeko 2 years ago?

i remember charlie at saint mirren quite a few years ago, he was quite good, infact without him maybe saints wouldnt have won the league, good to see he is going places, although I am not sure he is good enough for a top team I think lower end of the english league is his maximum, would be cool if he does better than I expect though.

I would take him back at saint mirren btw.........................

The logic is apparently if you hadn't heard of him 2 years ago he can't possibly be any good, because you know the lower leagues and countries outside England don't have any good footballers.

The development of players does not follow a linear path, where everyone is a world beater at 18. Charlie Adam has terrific ability, whether he makes it at Liverpool is another story, but for the fees being mentioned it is well worth the gamble, at the very least he'll become a very good squad player, that's hardly a bad thing long term if someone else is also brought in.

Time will tell if he's good enough to play for a team at the top end of the table, but right now we're not there and he has qualities that we lack. You don't have to spend the earth to bring in good players though.

When assessing players to bring in, there are a lot of variables, age profile, transfer fee, wages, the system the team employs and whether he fits in. He s a good age, cheap, won't be on much and will provide a link between midfield and attack something Liverpool haven't had since Alonso left, thus it's a step in the right direction even if he ends up a squad player it'll be alright, 5m is fair enough for a player as cover.

Football has become very snobby all of a sudden. Fans want big name players, big name managers and there is now a glass ceiling for so many. He may not be good enough, but he's worth a punt. Yes I'd love us to go out and spend 100m on 3 or 4 players, but that's not going to happen, so we've got to make smaller strides.

I think he is just what we need, a good british midfielder.

And if we can get him for 5 or 6 million, Id go for it and punt poulsen.

The thing is, we cant jus jump back to being elite, we have to slowly work our way back up and who knows, i think he will do well as he has great talent and the price is good imho.

Liverpool outbid Aston Villa for Blackpool midfielder Charlie Adam — only to have their £4.5million offer rejected.

Blackpool manager Ian Holloway has said he will not let the 25-year-old Scot leave until the summer.

However, the former Rangers player has made it clear he wants to move this month.
Holloway says Adam, Blackpool’s record £500,000 signing, is worth £46m — what the club would lose if they were relegated.
46m.

his contract is up in 18 months is it? they need to be careful here, could get nowt for him.

I agree with this. Look at Bale - I remember stats what can only be 2 years ago that he'd played 20 odd times for Spurs and never been on a winning team. suddenly from nowhere he's ripping Inter apart and is declared as the best left winger since Jesus Christ swapped from a more central role. Truth is probably somewhere inbetween but you see where Im coming from - players can progress quickly.

As for the lad himself - bit of a flavour of the moment job. Honestly havent seen him play enough over a span of years to make a decent judgement but as has been said above, our squad needs building with decent players and building quick. Wouldnt break the bank for him but if he can add something we'll all be happy.

silvio will tell you more about his time at rangers, he was unlucky there, was played out of position, But showed the brains to get out and goto blackpool, where he became captain and helped get them come up, in that time has broke into the scotland team, and for me should be the 1st name on the team sheet. Him and fletcher can be a good midfield for us for years to come.
