German Clubs in Europe 2010/2011

It's time to open one for the 2010/2011 season.

Apparently Stuttgart played away vs Molde and won 3-2. Lets hope they also win the home match so Germany can win more coefficient points.

Molde 2 - 3 Stuttgart
'27 Rudy (0-1)
'65 Mostrom (1-1)
'74 Kuzmanovic (1-2)
'76 Hoset (2-2)
'83 Harnik (2-3)

It's a shame I missed the game, 2nd half looks like it was a cracker. Lets hope for a great season for Germany and finally overtake Italy as the 3rd best league in Europe!

OK, didn't know that --- Gebhart was the captain, he is probably about 15 years old.

Rudy playing central and scored a nice goal, Trasch fit and looking good

Our squad still looks very thin - I think we only have about 15 players! Bobic said new players will come...

Rudy played on the right side. Gebhart seems to have gotten rid of his keep-ball-until-eternity attitude. Might have been very good move by Gross to have given him the captaincy (until Delpierre returns) and him playing often through the middle. He has ability to play nice passes, although he still has to work a lot on constant good passing. In the end it was Molde and they wont be the hardest defense Stuttgart will play this year, still Gebart managed to screw up rather simple passes.

And I concur with Distant, Stuttgart needs more offensive midfielders/wingers. It seems like Degen will come from Liverpool for the RB-position. So this spot should be settled. Maybe a good new striker could also be of use.

Weird- kicker said Rudy was central but Gerry you are correct.

Degen is such an average player who is also injured alot. Vfb are really going cheap here with the new players this summer.
We were so good in the second half of last season - any other club would buy 1 or 2 good players and push on next season to challenge for the titel or get a champions league place- not Stuttgart!

Perhaps Bobic can play- that will save us a few euro- grrr

14m euros for Khedira, enough to buy 2 quality players. I think with Kuz & Trasch, you might be set in the center mid in terms of starters.

We received what 35m from the sale of Gomez and hardly spent any of that!

It will be interesting to see how much we spend this summer.

Losing 0-2 so we could be out.

What a joke- we haver such an average team now. Kuzmanovic as a Cb ( Gentner as a CB last week), losing Gomez, Khedira and not buying any quality players

I can see us near relegation this season

Only 12,000 there- too soon after the world cup and it's a stupid competition anyway

1-2 now, but they score one and it's game over. It's true, you guys are crap at the moment. Your defense is truly terrible at the moment!

That looked onside? Ugh... Didavi kid, he looks like he knows what he's doing. Best midfielder since he's come on, passes the ball with composure.

Gebhart toooor

Didavi making the difference.

FT: 2-2

Stuttgart go through. At this rate, I would be happy with them passing the group unless some new players are bought.

Their opponents in this match are there at the moment in the Tippeliga.

Why are you surprised?
Without Cacau, Delpierre, Tasci, Khedira - and with no signings - we would always struggle

Considering who they played, they should have demolished them. Fair enough the first game should have probably ended 5-2 for Stuttgart, but this is embarrassing. I don't understand this, 30m euros for Gomez & 14m for Khedira only 1 year later. That's 44m euros just from transfers and you guys made the CL knock-out stage last season which gets you a serious cash flow. It's completely illogical and outrageous to not spend money on new players.

The team needs a few positions to be filled however a creative player as well as a quality full-back are absolute must-haves. A CB, GK and a striker would help obviously but I am talking about the absolute minimum. You can't get that much money from transfers and not spend much of it especially when you go the 2nd round of Champions League. For a club with your ambition, it's really sad the fans don't do some type of protest to pressure management to stop being so naive and useless.

CL Draw: Werder Bremen vs Sampdoria :S

Hard round but if they beat them, it will almost seal the 4th spot for 2 years from now I think.

Tell me about it. We did spend 6-7m on Pog and 4-5m on Molinaro who are both average really.
I think some of the money has gone to the stadium upgrade and to keep the club running quite frankly. Bobic said there will be signings but Vfb are always slow with spending money (so are Swabians!!)

Also we do generally give young players a chance and it worked under Magath (#2 in the BL) and worked under Veh (champions!) so who knows - maybe the likes of Didavi, Rudy, Funk & Shipplock will step up. Plus Gebhardt becoming a really good player.
This is Rudy's last chance/ make or break season. He played some games last season and looked awful. Rudy if you remember starred with Kroos at the U17 WM a few years back.

I have just had a thought - unless we are waiting to see what happens Gomez at Bayern?
