Sunderland, meanwhile, are set to sign Lyon defender John Mensah on a season-long loan deal.
Another good signing.

Could do well this year. Their weaknesses were CM and CB. They needed experience. They have got it.

Bloody hell can't say sunderland have a lack of ambition, some really good signings. Mensah has a lot of experience, lorik cana is a real steal, arsenal tracked him for a long while. Darren bent scores goals in a good environment, who knows how fraizer campbell will do. Will be an interesting season for the mackems.

Cattermole has signed for Sunderland.

£6m possibly rising to £8m.

Another good, good signing.

They have a very good spine now and the likes of Reid and Richardson capable of a bit of magic, having a good solid unit around them should help.

If Anton Ferdinand has a good season they could push for 8/9th

I rate cattermole too, the type of player you love to have in your side but hate playing against. He is a bit of a thug on occasions and has got a bit of nasty streak in him but i think that is something you can't change in players as it takes away some of their other attributes

They will get a Europa League place this year.

Brilliant spine to the side now. And a few flair players that should benefit from a solid base.

Possibly Everton.

I forgot that City didn't make Europe last year so that negates Fulhams spot.

Will certainly be the 'best of the rest' if they don't make it IMO

No chance, they won't oust the likes of Spurs, City, Villa or Everton.

Meh - Everyone gets them wrong.

Poor 2010. Injuries and not keeping a steady spine have cost them.

Still think they will creep back up to 11th/12th

2-0 now, Bent adding the second.

First win this year or will Bolton pull it back?!

Wasn't he the top English scorer in 2006 when Eriksson took Walcott instead?
