And for the record, I actually quite like Shearer.

DeRidder? - Free and not done too bad
Kapo? - Admitedly not been brilliant
Rodallega? - Showing signs of being pretty good
Mido? - Loan wasnt it? He didnt do paticulary badly and it was a low risk/high reward move.
Regardless - He has made some cracking signings and the massive profit on Palacious means if he's wasted a few quid (who hasnt) it's well covered.
He has done wonders at Wigan

Do you know how much Mido's on? It was a bad move King would have been better. He also couldn't handle Zaki either.
Mariachi any comment on reports you are from and or suppoer Scumderland?

I quite like De Ridder, I think he's a good footballer was brilliant whenever he played for the Dutch U21 team, Rodallega looks useful as well.
Mido or King there probably isn't much in it, both more trouble than they're worth.

Who cares if he is on a few quid - I bet Wigans wage bill isn't too bad at all.
It's a gamble.
As for Zaki - He took him on loan and he scored the goals that made sure Wigan were never near the trouble. Good move.

That wasn't my point, my point was he failed to handle Mido, he was a good signing but what if 3-4 Sunderland players play funny buggers.

You could level the accusation of 'not handling' problem players at just about any manager out there.
He's a good, youngish manager with a good track record.

TBH maybe these nitty gritty players with less prestige is just what Sunderland need. I honestly thought Sunderland would push for Europe last year after signing fancy players like Malbranque, Chimbonda, Diouf, Cisse etc. all with excellent track records in the Premiership, proven quality and more dependable. This obvs nearly failed to the point they were relegated.
At least with Cattermole and Scharner, Sunderland have a solid foundation where these fancy show pony players could fit in to. Sunderland didn't have this balance under Keane or S'Bragia. He has identified an area to develop well already.

They've just sign Frazier Campbell on a deal which could rise to £6m.
They also want Bent and/or Crouch apparently.
Good selection of strikers with Jones there already.
Need a couple of defenders and midfielders too though.

They want Bent poor and crouch who would be good. Jones is not a goal scorer he got like 7 in 33 last season or something daft.
They also bid for Cattermole which shows a lack of ambition as he's just a younger Tainio with a better injury record and a poorer disciplinary record. There's talk of Anton leaving and they want a defender from toulca who is supposedly quite good.
They seem to want a Gordon replacement as well as the fans don't rate him.

I think Bent is a good player. Would be a good addition to Sunderlands front line.
Cattermole, another good signing that would be imo. Hard worker and as ITF said earlier in the thread, would allow the more fancy players to do more of their thing. His disciplinary is the only downer. I think he is a good player though.

Well if he's playing 4-5-1 then 4 strikers will be hard to accomodate, 4-4-2 you couldn't have a luxury in the middle. They also have a lot of players n big wages.

Sunderland have signed Paraguay captain Paulo da Silva on a three-year deal.
The defender, 29, has played more than 50 times for his country and is predominantly a right-sided defender who normally plays in central defence.
He joins from Mexican side Toluca where he was also captain and has previously played football in Europe with Perugia and Venezia in Italy.
Da Silva is new boss Steve Bruce's second signing following Fraizer Campbell's arrival over the weekend.
Bruce said: "I'm delighted to have signed a player of Paulo's experience.
"He is captain of his country and has played at the highest level in South America, so he will bring leadership qualities to our side."

They're building a good team and you'd like to think that they'll push for mid table. Saying that I thought they would last year when they signed Diouf, Malbranque, Chimbonda and co. We'll see but this year they have a wiser and proven manager at the helm you'd like to think.

I think so.
Will be a good solid, midtable, Premiership Midfield in a few years.
A bit like Muamba for Bolton. Good player, just not good enough to break for the top 4/5/6 yet.

Sunderland have signed Marseille captain and Albania midfielder Lorik Cana on a four-year contract.
The 25-year-old is manager Steve Bruce's third new signing of the summer following the arrivals of Paulo Da Silva and Fraizer Campbell.
"I'm delighted to have brought Lorik to the club, especially given the number of clubs who had expressed an interest in signing him," said Bruce.
"He brings tremendous experience both at club level and internationally."
Cana, who turns 26 on Monday, has 31 caps for Albania and captained Marseille to second place in the French league last season.

Sunderland are signing a team of leaders this summer. I know sweet fa about this guy but if your the captain of Marseille you can't be too bad.

Cana is a quality signing. Don't think he'll be there so long though. I expect him to shine this year, and jump ship to a bigger PL club very soon.
