I love Ashley Cole

The hatred he receives from L'Arse fans.

How can I not love the man?

"Oh Ashleys the best left back in the world"

1 year later:

"Cashleys a cvnt"

Sounds familiar Arsenal fans?

What a man.

What a true genius.

Not since Anelka have I rated an ex Arsenal player so much

It is quite laughable tbh. One minute he's the world's greatest left back and can do no wrong. Then he moves and he suddenly becomes overrated and ****, and Clichy is better!

it's just the way it goes in football.

Hitler was the best evil dictator in the world but still a ****. Times have changed though there are far better left backs in the premiership, let alone the world. Once he left for Chelsea he was forced to play against his strengths and therefore he's looked nothing like the Arsenal player. Zambrotta is hardly the best in the world since his move to Barca

Atleast your not trying to hide anything when you say you love someone who gets thrills from "allegedly" sticking phones up his arse.

I don't think you are his type, Bossanova stands a better chance imo, he should try giving him a ring, I think Ashley would probably like that.
As regards him as a footballer, the reason Arsenal fans labeled him the best left back in world was more because of what he offered going forward, the little triangle of him, Pires and Henry was where the majority of our moves would originate from, he was never the worlds greatest defender.
Then he goes to a club where their manager (at the time) doesn't like his full backs crossing the half way line. Mourinho's main focus is on not conceding as opposed to Wenger's which is on scoring it is the reason why Mourinho would often put centre backs such as Gallas or Boulahrouz in at full back, it therefore stands to reason that someone like Cole, who up until he was about 17/18 was a striker, would become less effective because of that.
I wouldn't say that Clichy is already better than Cole was for us but I do think that Clichy is better than Ashley Cole was at a similar age, I'd also take him on current form (got motm yesterday).

Ashley Cole is still the best left back in Premier. Fact. Some people say that he has not performed that well after his transfer, I say b***s. One difference between Clichy and Cole though - Clichy does not dive and cry as much. Looks like Clichy is more "English" than England NT left back Cole. Grinding it out and fighting all the time without diving.

How about Thierry Henry comments.

Henry, Arsenal: "Not even top3 Premier player", "Does not score in big games", "Arrogant **"

Henry, Barcelona: "Best Premier player in history", "Great scorer", "Nice guy"

All bias aside, Patrice Evra has been the best over the last year or so. Him and Clichy have both played better.

I never thought that Cashley was the best leftback in the world when he played for us. Infact I never really liked him at all, even before the whole transfer fiasco. And I'm pretty certain that I said that on several occassions in my posts on here, if you want to see for yourself.

I don't rate him, he certainly hasn't reached the heights of his time when Arsenal went 49 games unbeaten, when he was at his best. Injuries got the better of him, so did the ego and I suppose his wallet must be dragging him down as well.

He's been a shadow of his former self at Chelsea, while he'll have a few good games, he'll have a shocker as well. He's no longer consistent enough to be considered the best left back but he's still a decent left back.

I used to rate him highly, but he's a shadow of the player he once was.

The best LB atm, is either Evra or Clichy.

No need for me personally to take it back at all. Never called any of the above overrated while they were at, or even after they left United.

Yeah I do love how Arsenal players have turned on him; but in fairness he has not been as good since leaving, and Clichy has made the transition almost seamless...so to that extent I agree...and Clichy looks like he could go to another level entirely...but yea, Ashley Cole has a lot of class...needs to regain peak form tho

He's good defender

He's cash obsessed.

You can be both? Hes alright but not best could think of 5-10 better.

WTF? Which one of those played better after they left United? Beckham and Stam could be argued I suppose, but Cantona retired FFS!

That's it.

And can i add that if Scholes had left Utd for Liverpool when he was 23 because Liverpool offered him a mountain of cash, i don't think he would have received a heroes welcome on his way back to OT. So please people, stop being so hypocrite. The guy is a scumbag and deserved much more than the little abuse he got on sunday. Its funny he hasnt been able to play that much since he moved though, kind of some karma thing going on.

As for the best left back, its a tie between Clichy and Evra.

Arsenal-Chelsea 'Rivalry' can in no way be compared to United-Liverpool

It would be like a United player going to eveton or something.

Exclamation

Cashley is a good footballer and I admit that when we won the doubles and all I considered him to be top3 left back in teh world. The thing that separates him from Clichy is not defence (Clichy is better, more aggressive and physical) but the offence. Clichy still is not the crosser, passer or dribbler that Cashley was (I dont think he is any longer). Clichy has these areas to improve and then he will be better than Cashley, hands down.

As said above one thing about Clichy though.. he is not a jerk. He dont dive and whine like Cashley. One trait all you pool and ManU fans hated about him when he was at arsenal. You all called him diver and weak whiner. Both true, just like in regards Reyes. So you can call him diver now too.

of course not. Chelski dont have the trophy cabinet or traditions as the other teams (pool, manu, arse). thus there is not the "decades of rivalry" thing.

Disagree.
Its not the historic rivalry we have with our neighbours up the road but because Chelsea has been a bigger rival in the league in the last few years, the rivalry is much stronger than what you would have with Everton.
