England Vs Estonia, 13.10.07, 15:00 BST

VS

Seeing as no one has posted a match thread ahead of tommorows game I will do one now(apologies ruudlover if yours was intended to be a match thread too). All match related talk here please.

Another big tie for England and although we are odds on favourites to win again our third successive game, you can never be too sure in England's case.
Another 3 points will put pressure on Croatia ahead of their evening game with Israel. England win and Croatia lose and we are both level on points, something we have to aim for going into next months crunch tie against them.
In all honesty anything less than a win tommorow is unthinkable but you never know in football.

England Squad
Steve McClaren announced his squad last week which saw the return of Wayne Rooney, Frank Lampard and Dean Ashton to the squad. Good news also is that Campbell and Smith are fit to play having recovered from knocks they picked up earlier in the week.

But England's injury problems remain. England have lost Ashton, AJ, and Brown who have withdrawn through injury. Terry has also been ruled out with a knee injury, but should be back for the Russia tie. England are still without David Beckham, Owen Hargreaves, Gary Neville and are now without Emile Heskey.

This is the squad chosen to represent England over the forthcoming qualifiers:
Robinson (Tottenham), James (Portsmouth), Carson (Aston Villa), Richards (Manchester City), Brown (Manchester United), Ferdinand (Manchester United), Terry (Chelsea), Ashley Cole (Chelsea), Campbell (Portsmouth), Neville (Everton), Shorey (Reading), Lescott (Everton), Bentley (Blackburn), Gerrard (Liverpool), Lampard (Chelsea), Joe Cole (Chelsea), Wright-Phillips (Chelsea), Barry (Aston Villa), Downing (Middlesbrough), Young (Aston Villa), Smith (Newcastle), Owen (Newcastle), Crouch (Liverpool), Johnson (Everton), Defoe (Tottenham), Rooney (Manchester United), Ashton (West Ham).

Possible Line Up
McClaren is unlikely to change a winning side although with the injuries to Heskey and Terry, England will welcome back Wayne Rooney and Sol Campbell. McClaren has also given Gareth Barry the nod ahead of fit again Frank Lampard, and is also standing by off form goalkeeper Paul Robinson. The side to play will be as follows:
Robinson
Richards--Ferdinand--Campbell--A.Cole
SWP--Gerrard--Barry--J.Cole
Rooney--Owen

Estonia Squad
Viggo Jensen named his 21 man squad on the 13th October. Striker Andres Oper and Vladimir Voskoboinikov have been dropped due to injuries.and Watford goalkeeper Mart Poom is facing a late fitness test ahead of the clash, with Jensen claiming 'he and his medical team are doing all they can to ensure he plays'.

The squad is as follows for Estonia:
Mihkel Aksalu (Flora Tallinn), Pavel Londak (FK Bodo/Glimt), Mart Poom (Watford FC), Teet Allas (Flora Tallinn), Alo Barengrub (Flora Tallinn), Enar Jaager (Aalesund FK), Dmitri Kruglov (Torpedo Moscow), Raio Piiroja (Fredrikstad FK), Urmas Rooba (Turu Palloseura), Andrei Stepanov (FC Khimki, Moscow), Aivar Anniste (TVMK Tallinn), Aleksandr Dmitrijev (Levadia Tallinn), Tarmo Kink (Levadia Tallinn), Ragnar Klavan, (Heracles Almelo), Joel Lindpere (Tromso IL), Martin Reim (Flora Tallinn), Taavi Rahn (FK Ekranas Panevezys), Sergei Terehhov, TVMK Tallinn), Oliver Konsa (TVMK Tallinn), Kaimar Saag (Levadia Tallinn), Kristen Viikmae (Flora Tallinn).

Form Guide
England: WDLWW
Estonia: WLWLD

Previous Meeting
06.06.07 Estonia 0-3 England: A game which saw David Beckham and Michael Owen return to the fold after lengthly periods out. The first half in Tallinn was another poor performance by Engand and with the fans getting on England and McClaren's backs, Joe Cole eased the pressure with a long range 37 minute goal. After that England were cooler and more composed and it showed when Peter Crouch scored a well placed header off a Beckham cross in the 54th minute before Owen sealed victory in the 62nd minute.

Betting Odds (courtesy of Ladbrokes)
England Win 1/14
Draw 8/1
Estonia Win 33/1

Weather (courtesy of BBC Sport)
It will stay fairly cloudy at Wembley on Saturday afternoon where England take on Estonia in their latest European qualifying match. There should be some brightness between the clouds but there may also be the odd spot of drizzle. It will feel quite warm with temperatures of 18C (64F).

Man in the Black
Referee: Nicolai Vollquartz (DEN)- Born in 1965, he was the Referee for the Scotland vs Georgia game earlier this year. He tends to average around 2 cautions a game so hopefully it'll be a good clean game tommorow.

Other Officials
Assistant referee: Anders Norrestrand (DEN), Bo Abildgaard (DEN)
Fourth official: Thomas Vejlgaard (DEN)
UEFA Referee observer: László Vagner (HUN)

Right I have done my preview, so post all your reactions, opinions and views ahead of tommorow's clash here.

Nice to see everyone drop their club allegiances and get behind the national team......

Why did lescott keep falling over the ball and then himself, he looked like bambie on ice.

Three sh*t goals really. First one should have been saved and the other two were fluked in more or less.

Still, even though it was an expected victory... you still had to go out and win. Well played. A proper game now on Wednesday night, with qualification far from guaranteed. Am I right in saying you'll be playing on a plastic pitch on Wednesday?

No United player had better get injured on that

Got the result we needed.

Barry was cracking again.

Once again though....Gerrard was mediocre. All these calls for how he would thrive with Lampard out the team etc and its been three pretty poor performances in all honesty.

Good to see Rooney score for England for once. That would boost his confidence for England now and he should be able to keep Heskey out of the team

England played better and had the chances but bar a few disastorous errors or deflections or own goals I'm not conviced as to whether we would have won that. At the end of the day though we got the result and our chances of qualifying are still alive.

Gerrard has been pretty w@nk all this season hasnt he? Certainly recently from what I can gather his club performances have been poor also.

I still wouldnt play Lampard though. But I think both Gerrard and Lampard will start on Wednesday unfortuantely.

I'd go with the same team but with Lescott replacing Cashley.

I think he was just nervous.

His first pre-season & debut for us was the same but then he settled in and has been one of the best defenders in the Premiership ever since.

Why as Fat Frank booed?

^^Because he's fat, lazy and utter sh1te.

Another good win, Rooney's back and showed why he is a key player for us.

England are playing very good football now, accurate and quick one touch passing, which i've never seen before and it's obv paying divedens.

See what happens when you take that tree Crouch, and Fat Frank out the squad, we start playing well and winning games.

You can't be serious That's what you call good football?

Oh btw booing of Lampard is getting ridiculous, isn't this the 3rd straight game now, It's not like the man who many thought should be given more freedom in midfield did much, infact he's done nothing all season. I'm now wishing desperately Lampard gets back in the team scores a hatrick and exposes the fickleness of the fans.

You are precisely the sort of **** that typifies the average England "fan". I enquote "fan" because how ANY fan can boo one of their own players before he has even touched a ball, to me, is simply beyond reason.

I suppose you're obviously in agreement with the fans booing Robinson? no doubt you were one of them.

You utter, utter moron.
