the possible return of Owen...
Owen seems to be an option if we failed to get torres....what do u think about it?? do u still believe in our legend and want him back?? do u think he can come back and preform at the same level?? and finally owen or torres???

Owen over Torres for the value (9M vs 25M) and the simple fact that he is proven. Torres would be a quality signing no doubt but we could spend better money on wingers if we got Owen on the cheap. I think he would work well with Crouch aswell.

Also the fact that Bent is going for 17M and Henry is for 16M just goes to show how truly f'ed up the striker market is right now... Owen is available at a great price and i'm sure he'd be welcomed back by everyone who had something against him once he starts scoring like he used to for us. Oh yeah, Carra and Gerrard would be over the moon too.

Owen teaming up with Kuyt or Crouch would work brilliantly, IMO. Torres would be good because he's not a poacher and can play on his own up front ... would take Tevez over Torres though.

i'd prefer owen over torres.simply because he is a proven goal scorer in the premiership and he wont take long adjusting to the club.but frankly,i dont see owen turning his back on newcastle after they have paid 17 mill for him when he hasn't yet performed for them.

I agree with u all
Yea Enzo ur right...Owen is one of th best players in the club's history..he is a proven goalscorer who can score from 20 to 30 goals a season...Torres is more than amazing and still very young but i prefer Owen...i would settle for torres and go buy his shirty as soon as he signs but lets get back our legend...

Lets see:
- Over-rated.. never even scored 20 league goals
- Worst penatly taker I've ever seen.
- Chose to leave us thinking he'd do better elsewhere.
- Since hes left us, we're are a much better team.
- Porbably nowhere near as fast as he used to be.
- Has spent the majority of the past couple of years injured...
No thanks.

He scored very often goals. I can not agrre with your words here. He also showed in Real a good performance but it was also the fault of the Real Coach not to bring him the full 90 minutes. He with Gerrard And Carragher could be legends

Tad harsh Dougmeister.....I still dislike him for the way he left us/favoured England ahead of us....but for £9m?!?!?
There isnt many strikers in Europe of his quality for £9m...I personally think we'll make a move for him in January, after hes proved his fitness & I'd welcome him back with open arms.
Tevez would be the ideal option imo- but hes going to cost a fair bit...I also feel people are overlooking Milito for the more glamerous Torres.
And now with Henry to Barca- the option of Eto'o reopens, but if the Torres deal goes ahead, we wont be able to afford Eto'o probably.

1) scored 19 on several occasions though
2) goals to games ratio is still 1 every other game or better
3) Nobody on our squad has even come close to 20 in the EPL on a regaular basis
4)he's injury prone and left us in a f-ed up way
We need to look at it as Torres vs Owen and (say)Simao plus a few quid.
Not even a questiom if those are our options.

First of all and with respect i totally dont agree with u..
No one can ever argue that Owen is one of the best players of the Reds history...always gave 100% and never seemed as if he's an everton supporter which is the reality....Like Henry he started to get frustrated of the lack of trophies so he moved on to win some medals even if he didnt....Maybe he left in a strange way and with no respect to the supporters but lets see what Owen did for the club..
-Owen socred 118 goals in 216 matches for liverpool...simply amazing...
-European footballer of the yera in 2001 after his magnificent, outstanding season that saw him grabbing us 5 titles in which he scored 2 goals in the last few mins in the FA CUP FINAL AGAINST ARSENAL..LATER NAMED THE "Michael Owen final"....
-scored against Bayern in the super cup
-scored in the charity shield against manchester united
-In his first full season when he was just 18 years old in 97/98 he scored 23 goals...( not bad for an 18 years old boy,ha??)
-In his second season he again scored 23 goals.
-the following season he was injured and scored just 12 goals in 30 matches..
-the following 3 seasons he scored,24,29 and 28 goals.....exactly what we miss now..
- Finally in his last season for the club where he was again injured half if the season he scored 19 goals in 38 matches....still better than our present strikers...
So as u can see Owen is part of the Reds history....Micheal Owen is liverpool's number 10...fans favourite and a player who was part of the club...Owen meantr a lot to the supporters and i really wish to see him back....HE ALWAYS SCORED MORE THAN 20 GOALS A SEASON AND NOT LESS AS U SAY !!!!!!!!!! WE ARE NOT A BETTER TEAM WITHOUT HIM NUMBERS TALK...OWEN ALONE IS BETTER THEN ALL OUR STIKERS....WE WERE FLYING IN THE AIR WHEN CROUCH SCORED A HATTRICK AGAINSTARSENAL WHILE OWEN DID IT ALL TIME...HE DID IT AGAINST GERMANY IN GERMANY...HE'S A TOP TOP TOP TOP PLAYER WHO JUST NEEDS ANOTHER CHANCE TO PROVE HIMSELF AS ONE OF THE BEST STRIKERS IN THE WORLD..EVEN AT NEWCASTLE HE SCORED 7 GOALS IN 11 MATCHES IN HIS 1ST SEASON...EXCELLENT ONCE AGAIN.......AND I DONT GET U WHEN U SAY THAT HE'S NOT FAST ANYMORE......OWEN CAN TAKE THE CLUB BY STORM IF HE COMES BACK.......THANK U DOUGI

From your point of view, Owen as a goal scorer is miles ahead of Torres, and for £9m?
Its a fvckin no brainer.

I think most of us Reds would pick Owen over Torres if he was available but buying Torres is hardly a step in the wrong direction is it? He is a class striker and will have time prove himself if he needs. I don't see him being a flop personally.

Torres + Owen would be brilliant IMO, because Torres is NOT a poacher -- he seems a bit more like Tevez, a player who links with midfield and creates his own goals. I think if we manage to keep all of Kewell, Garcia and Pennant (which we should) then it would be worth thinking about buying two strikers (Torres/Tevez + Owen/Trezeguet) and one versatile winger (Simao/Quaresma/Mancini) ...

Owen & torres. Let's be greedy. Owen is only 9/10mill.. so can afford both, esp if we get pennies for Cisse & Speedy
Beller's back to the geordies to annoy shearer. lol..

Yeah, I reckon we could splurge on two strikers, even if it means that Crouch or Kuyt won't get as much game-time (Voronin will get bugger all, lol) ... but it would take a little time for Torres to settle, which would give those two a chance to prove their worth. Also, it all depends on what formation Rafa favours ... if it's a 4-4-2 or 4-1-2-1-2, Owen is first choice recruit IMO; if a 4-5-1 or 4-3-3, Torres (or Tevez or Eto'o) would be the priority. But both would give us SO many options ... and I really only think we NEED one new winger, so their's room to buy two strikers probably ...

owen left cause he thought he could find better elsewhere...well he's back knowing it's not possible for him...
let's welcome him giving him the chance to prove us he's really the same...
who would be a better siging than him.0..he knows the club ,the team , the way of playing, and he's hungry...

I am not convinced rafa actually wants owen back.
anyway I swiped this off the daily express site :
LIVERPOOL boss Rafa Benitez has rejected the chance to give England striker Michael Owen an Anfield return.
Newcastle were prepared to trade Owen for two Liverpool players – striker Craig Bellamy and left-back John Arne Riise.
But Benitez ruled out a deal for Owen, which would also have taken Bellamy back to Tyneside.
However, Owen could still be on the move – with Manchester City and Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger also interested in the 27-year-old striker.

part exchange with Riise? Seems a bit random....I wouldnt be totally devestated if he was to leave tbh.
Owen & Torres is definitely an affordable and realistic strikeforce IMO, moreso than any involving Tevez/Eto'o/Villa.
I seriously think we'll make a move for Owen in January after hes proved his fitness.
Torres
Owen
Kuyt
Crouch
Thats a damnsight better than our lineup last season- the brilliant mind linkin the play, the goalgetter, the workhorse, the lampost with the 1st touch.
If we sign Torres, I cant see us signing Milito also sadly...maybe a tad too risky to bring in 2 brand new strikers from a different league.
