Yes we're all disappointed about the defeat but lets put all of this into context. We have this season exceeded all expectations. Bobby Robson was hoping for a 6th place finish at best and at the minute it looks like it will be top 4 instead. We are still building what looks like could be a great side which is currently built up of very young talented players which will once again be expanded upon in the summer. It was unrealastic for any of us to really expect us to win the league, yes we had being performing well, yes we look exciting but are we really better than Arsenal Man U and maybe Liverpool ? We had a chance to win the league and we still have that chance but nobody really expects us to win it.
We can't stay gutted, we have Liverpool to play on Wednesday night and then it's Arsenal again next Saturday where we can try and make up for the bad result.
It wasn't even as if we got all bad points out of the game. JJ was impense. He really does look fantastic and a total steal at only £5m. Robert started to run again in the first half and despite leaving the game again in the second when we seemed sloppy he did put some great crosses in.
Also look at the actual team again. Bobby left the game saying he was aiming for 3 points out of the next 3 games as a target before the Sunderland game, and anything more would be welcomed and said the fact that we picked up all 3 in the match against Sunderland was a massive spring board. He said the players were disappointed but not disheartned and were already up for the match against Liverpool and had forgotten about this game. This shows the new team spirit we really do now have at the club.
We played a superb side yesterday, a side who despite having 10 first team squad players out were able to field a side of that quality. This is Newcastles aim and losing this game and 7 in total this season so far is not going to prevent this from happening.
I've read more threads where people have been very criticle of many players, it's time to stop that now and get back to the support we gave them before the Arsenal match. Yes many disappointed, but forget it and get right behind them for the match against Liverpool as we're going to need it.

I think you just about said it all Phil, and I agree with you,as at the run up to Christmas we were just excited at maybe making it to the top six. Where we stand to day has outstriped our expectations so your right we should'nt be down hearted as we have still got everything to play for,and as for the Wednesday match against the Pool it could be our evening??? :xyxthumbs

Exactly right. Its the start of March, we`ve played all the top six teams twice with one exception, and we are in 4th !!!!!!!! I`d have never dreamed of this at he start of the season !! We have Dyer to come back and Cort has had his first run out.
Things don`t look so bad do they !!!!!!
Oh, and we`re still in the FA Cup !!

Yep spot on. Despite being bitterly disappointed that we didnt get something out of the game I was proud that looking at how young our side is we can be up there challenging for a few seasons to come. Jenas was fantastic, Robert got stuck in a lot more, Amoebi didnt show himself too badly in the first half.
I cant believe the commentator on ITV Sport had the nerve to try and blame Dabizas for both goals, basically implied that it was he who lost us the game.

Man U just could'nt get the ball in the net ?mind you all credit to the Rams for getting a draw think they were robbed on the last goal they had disallowed. Barthez does play like a prick at times does'nt he

I think it shows that we all have to realise that we don`t have an easy run in. The teams at the bottom are fighting to stay up and the teams at the top are fighting for Europe. Its gonna be a hard slog from now in. But we now we can match them, we just need to show a bit more grit at times. Derby were a good example of this as were MU. Fighting for every ball.

Yeah your right jawD I cant see any of our games being easy for the rest of the season, just got to stay sharp and focused and keep playing as we are right to the end,and all being well we should get what we deserve,a place in Europe be it UEFA, or C.L. hopefully the latter
