Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez has confirmed that Peter Crouch broke his nose on Saturday.

The England striker was carried out of Liverpool's 4-0 victory after being accidentally kicked in the face by Blades striker Rob Hulse.

Benitez told Liverpool's website: "Crouch has a broken nose and needed stitches but it's not serious, he's OK and I spoke to him after the game."

Benitez added that keeper Jose Reina missed the game as his wife gave birth.

Crouch also suffered a cut head as Hulse's boot made contact as the Reds star stooped to head a ball.

Ironically, Liverpool had already been awarded a penalty for Rob Kozluk's foul on Steven Gerrard.

Reina's wife Orlando went into labour with their first child on Friday night and the goalkeeper was at her bedside in hospital.

difference between this and terry's is that crouch went down quite low for a header, while jt wasnt low at all. crouch is more responsible for his injury than terry is
