Leo Beenhakker to take over Polish NT

It is still unofficial but some of the daily papers announced today that Leo is bound to take over Polish National Team from Janas ( ).

What do you think about him? I bet he`d be a good person for that job. He is not a person from the Polish FA clique so he should be impregnable to all the informal connections which create polish football and have too big influence on the national team.

And Dudek probably would be back.... Apparently De Zeeuw (Dudek`s manager) is in close relationship with Leo. HEY!!! This is a strange connection then!!

Anyway - should be better then that w....r Janas

Polish keeper at the WC was pretty good so to have back Dudek wont be a big deal. About Beenhacker he was linked to Foggia after Zeman left but then the deal didnt go trough. He was said to have an offensive coach but anyway I think Poland should look for a Polish coach

Look for Polish coach. I would also say so if we had to chose from. But the only one who`d suit for that job chose Senegal NT offer. I am talking about Henryk Kasperczak

Henryk Kasperczak would have been a dream come true, but he is not on good terms with PZPN president Michal Listkiewicz....so I think he realized that as long as Listkiewicz was in power, he didn't stand a chance for the job, and took the offer from Senegal before Janas gave up the job. I'm not a big fan of Leo Beenhakker, he is 64 and just got finished coaching T&T. If you are going to bring in a foreigner, do your best to make it top notch. In New York I've been watching, some games on ITVN, an international Polish channel, and Kazimierz Wegrzyn (former Ekstraklasa standout) was doing analysis, and the guy had the smarts, and enthusiasm, that I haven't heard in a long time. He retired about 2 years ago, and has no coaching experience, but you know the way things are going in PZPN, with the government threatning to take over, I would seriously consider this guy. It would be a huge huge risk, but its not like the Listkiewicz regime has anything to loose.

My bad Schwalker, basically the largest and most credible Polish gazzette "Gazeta Wyborcza" has stated that Leo Beenhakker will be officially announced as the National Team coach this coming Tuesday. Listkiewicz won't make an official announcement yet, but is giving us all sorts of clues, by saying that he is the best candidate and has made the best impression. It will be interesting to see how this plays out. Euro Qualifiers start soon, and I doubt the guy is familiar with the Ekstraklasa, were I expect a lot of call ups for our young guys.

Only problem is that he doesn't have that much time to get familiar with Polish football and the Ekstraklasa.

Bah, there are people employed by the FA that keep track of the players I guess...A coach must have

A) An idea or vision of how the team could play given the circumstances.
B) An ability to inspire the players to follow his vision.
C) Luck..

I think Beenhakker is a decent choice. It may seem risky to have foreigner coaching our NT, first time in history, but at the moment things can't get much worse. Good luck to him, hopefully he'll manage our boys better than Janas

3 World Cups and 5 Spanish Championships?

Dudek for Boruc? Why not order labotomies? I think Artur Boruc was the saving grace for the 2006 campaign.

That is true. Boruc will be the top Polish keeper for at least the next 10 years.

From what I saw with Celtic and the national team, I don't know why not. Unless the next Lev Yashin was born in 1987 in Warsaw...or Poland for that matter.

I hope Boruc will soon get a chance to be considered as one of the top goalies in the world...if that Celtic defense improves and Poland pulls it together.

I guess that's the conditional phrase that may determine Artur Boruc's fate. Either that, or he's transfered to a club that has a defense.

Poland is hit or miss. Maybe Beenhakker will come up with a stunning defense. He does wonders for "small" nations, but I always regarded Poland to be one of the untapped resources of the world.

Futbol wise, I have to agree with you. There is talent out there, its just that I think the youngsters are surrounded with ****....unfortunately we would have to bring history, politics and the Polish economy into this discussion.

In that case, I'm sorry. From what I have learned, Poland has had a sorted history (at best). If football was football, oh what a different story it would be.

Yes, the fact that some of our players are being brought up with the proper surrounding abroad helps out.....if they end up playing for us that is.

Tomorrow we will know everything. Leo Beenhaker will fly to Poland and he will probably sign a contract with PZPN. It will be good for Poland, I think...

Read a couple days back that Beenhakker will be looking to add Tomasz Rzasa to his staff. The current ADO den Haag defender, and former UEFA Cup Champion with Feynoord Rotterdam is supposedly highly respected by Beenhakker. Wlodzimierz Smolarek will also be joining the staff, as he will serve mostly as a scout of young talent abroad, along with help from Rzasa, in order to prevent mistakes like Podolski, Klose from happening. The popular "Bobo" Kaczmarczyk is also rumored to join the staff, not sure what position he would fill. Also Beenhakker will be looking to bring in some Dutchmen to fill other positions.........we will see if all this becomes reality tommorrow.

"Bobo" is great. He is the best at spotting unpolished diamonds. Dudek, Sikora, Jelen the list goes on and on...

Leo was in Gdynia on Friday.

Funny thing is that Coobek, myself and another friend of mine when we got onto the tribune we noticed that many fotoreporters were taking pictures of us. Interesting. But when we got to our seeats I realised that we stood at that time just next to Leo Beenhaker.

He got bored and disappeared during the 2nd half. No wonder - that game was just lousy
