02/10/2003. Fulham's potential groundshare with West London rivals Chelsea next season could be back-on.

The Cottagers have upset their supporters by ending plans to redevelop Craven Cottage, where they left last year to temporarily share with Queens Park Rangers.

This is left them with few options as to where to play their home games next season, so they've returned to the discussion table with Chelsea.

The club's chief executives Bruce Langham (Fulham) and Trevor Birch (Chelsea) are close to agreeing a one year deal for Fulham to play at Stamford Bridge.

A Fulham spokesman said: "We think there's a good chance of getting a groundshare with Chelsea - and we're aiming for next season."

urghhhhhh! bad BAD idea! and i'm sure both sets of fans won't be happy about this (duh) you need your own stadium, it's just not the same, but if it's only for 1 year it's a little different, but still!

Fulham have been playing at Loftus Road this season. Suppose Stamford Bridge next season. And next? Don`t think they`ll menage to rebuild the Craven Cottage in a year. And shouldn`t be allowed to use it because of lack of seats.
Another homeless club?

I thought the beach footy league is in Brazil. Maybe Cantona can make a come back with Chelsea next season, they got their own beach footy league going on there.

Probably best in the interests of both clubs, although fans probably wont think so. Fulham need a ground, and Loftus Road is s***e, I got soaked there this year. Chelsea are in debt and need the money.

I think at the moment it is the best option because QPR is a sh*thole and also a bugger to get to!

It's inevitible that next season we'll be playing at Stamford which I don't mind too much about because it's easier to get to and bigger capacity, which will mean some of our stayaway fans will come back.

I wonder if tickets won`t have to go up then.

Prices better not go up because my season ticket doubled this season!

But then again Chelsea season tickets are around £1000

Well if they do I hope that Fulham go down. I hate Stamford Bridge (even more than Loftus Road ).

have you been there?
I have and it was ok except for that damn turstile system. There is no space for a man over 120 kg to get through and they have to open the door to let such people through.
one more thing - restricted view seats - you dont see high ball as the higher stand blocks view. And you see nothing when people get up.
I can imagine it is ok when you have better seats. I didn`t so on second thought I agree with you. it sucks.

Chelsea got a huge £ 5000 punishment from FA for the (lack) condition of their BEACH.

FA is a joke once again.

How do you give £ 5000 fine to one of the biggest teams in England? It´s ridiculous. If there is a fine, it should be £ 50 000 or 100 000 at least.

And now there will be 2 teams playing on the beach.. hurray! This will make Premier a more respected league. Guess Premier has no quality standards, even though they insists lights/seats/warming..

In Italy two of their biggest clubs share a stadium full time, Lazio and Roma and their League is still respected.

(idea)

maybe Arse could share ground with Wimbledon then - their latest Stadium plan looks like a fiasco!

Fulham`d rather have 500k than (possible) FA cup

from soccerage:

Fulham will play two games in three days after they decided to put money before their chances of glory in the FA Cup.

The Cottagers will meet Burnley in their FA Cup fifth round replay on Wednesday week, but were scheduled to play Spurs live on sky on Monday night.

They could have moved the match with Tottenham to Saturday, or Sunday, but would have lost £500,000 in TV revenue.

I don't think they would have won the cup anyway, but they have a decent chance to get to the semi-final stage again - that's bloody amazing for them, considering their dodgy league form. And what is £500k these days eh? Nothing. You could buy Zidane's pinky finger with that. Stick in in goal.

Fulham FC will continue to play their home matches next season at the Loftus Road ground of Queen's Park Rangers FC, the English Premiership club have confirmed
The club can now officially announce that it will be playing at Loftus Road for one further season during 2003/04," read a statement on Fulham's official website. "At present the club is actively trying to find ways of developing a more cost-efficient stadium on the Craven Cottage site while negotiations take place with Chelsea [FC] regarding a temporary ground-share arrangement should this not prove possible."

What is going on with the Craven Cottage redevelopment.? Some time ago it looked as it was on the way to be done very quickly.
