Well I need to have this rant after coming home just a wee while ago from the CIS semi-final.

A shocking 18,000 at the national stadium. Did anyone watch it on the tv?

Anyways to the original point of my thread.

The past two games i have been to the refereeing has been shocking and way below par. I'm obviously going to be slightly biased here but I don't care.

First vs Motherwell on Saturday.

Our 2nd choice goalie starts his first game since Dec 99' and gets sent off after 17 minutes for bringing down a player in a one on one situation. It's debatable if he even touched him, but let's say for the sake of argument he did. Fair enough it's a penalty and i thought he should have got booked. But he gor red carded when there was two men on the line, making him not the last man. The b******s got everything after that. But luckily with 10 men we still managed to win that one.

But tonight was a farce too, another red card, JIm Lauchlin for good knows what. Then the celtic players are falling over at any chance they can get and getting a free kick. Our young defender Mark Wilson clashes with bobo balde , bobo rolls about 10 yards and gets a free kick, Now he is about twice the size and weight of Wilson and your not trying to tell me he got send him flying that far.

:crying

Don;t know if i really made any points there but i had to get that off my chest.

So its not just here in England that the refereeing standards are plummeting? As for Celtic players falling about. Its one of the problems of having so many "foreign" players - they bring their tricks with them. And here in the Premiership, we have our own favourite "divers" too. Sad ain't it....

Can't believe that anybody can argue with the sending off - awful challenge and he had to go. I didn't think the ref had too bad a game anyway

You might be right there. But I cannot remember Beckham attending that particular school, can you?

I did say I would be a wee bit biased but I must admint that i did think he was on celtic's side.

One of the things that pissed me off was United had a corner and someone ran on the pitch the ref didnt see it and when he did eventually stop the game he should have let us re-take the corner as the person entered the field of playe before the corner but he re started with a drop ball.

What was with the crowd anyway? I thought Celtic on their own would have loads but it seemed that even they didn't sell out?

Well Celtic are glory hunters, it was a mid-week game and it was live on tv, plus we're not exactly doing great, 11th in the league.

Sellic had around 16,000 "fans" at the game. We had 2,000.

We sang for the full 90 minutes, granted we didnt make much noise because of the small numbers of us, got right behind the team, and at 2-0 all the Celtic fans were leaving to a chorus of "We Can See You Sneaking Out!". They don;t know how good they've got it when they don;t need to turn out for cup semi finals.

BRING ON THE DUNDEE

I think it was maybe nearer the 1,800 mark because we had sold 1,600 at the start of the week.

At the risk of actually refering to the topic of this thread - I was at the Blackburn first leg of the WC semi at OT. Uriah Rennnie was the referee and he was completely abysmal - to both sides! I said something I shouldn't have done - at the top of my voice - and the "pc" mutters around me where ridiculous to say the least. I refered to his parentage and the fact that he was wearing a certain coloured kit!!! Needless to say I never meant it as it sounded but it was warranted - he was really pathetic and he is supposed to be one of the "world's best" - yeah right! He has already been kicked out of the Premiership once for being bad, into the Nationwide, now he's back again - and still just as bad....

There will never be a good ref, just ones who are not as bad as the others.

I think thats a fair appraisal. Our ref v Arsenal, Winters, isn't too bad, but the best of a bad bunch at present is Durkin. Best in Europe is Collina.

I was at the saints game yesterday and I saw what must the be the worst refereeing performance to have ever taken place at McDiarmid..... Alan Freeland was the ref, only ref as bad as him in Scotland is John Rowbotham... Trully shocking, he booked Keigan Parker for going down injured, and that's being literal.... We won the game though, which is all that really matters.... I'll tell you how bad the ref was.... Billy Stark, the proverbial Mr Cool, was almost sent to the stand.... Alan Freeland isn't fit to be a ref in the professional or even amatuer game

That booking might not appear too bothersome now; but later, when you need him and he is banned - then look back and say "bloody officials - again!!!"

We had Pierliigi Collina in charge of our game v Stuttgart on Thursday, it's easy to see why he's the best in Europe , unfussy, in the background no-nonsence, clear, need I go on

Can we have him every week ?

Ps V St Johnstone today we got 2[b][i] pens from Hugh Dallas

Hugh Dallas doesn't like anyone but i fund that he's normally decent. Although all the refs hate us for some reason (probably slightly paranoid here but it does seem like it).

You trying to steal my chip Shed Boy, I need that to keep my shoulders balanced, I had some nut behind me V St Johnstone giving Dallas abuse for every decision he made, even if it was in our favour. And he gave us two penalties

I think in general the old firm get most of the 50/50 decisions going especially at Celtic park and Castle Greyskull, But here come the paranoia, rangers get favoured more

Anybody know how many penalties each of the SPL team have conceded or been awarded ? I am sure it would be interesting reading

Anyway this is all a preamble to me agreeing with you that all the refs hate Dundee Utd :razz :razz :razz

I think it would be interesting to see how gets awarded and concedes the most penalties too.

I'm pretty sure opta used to do something like that and I know that they are printed in the daily record every few months. All the opta studd is usually on www.planetfootball.com but I can't see them.

Anybody know anywhere else where I could get my hands on these?
