Won't pretend I know, or have seen a lot of this guy....and we all know the dangers of youtubing (Mark Gonzales looked like a world beater!).

But I hear good things, and hopefully the fact that people are questioning Roma's wisdom on this is a positive sign of things to come.

^^^ Plus, even Chelsea fans are gutted we have got him.

From what I have read, apparently they were not happy about him leaving in the first place.

Yeah, just read that in their forum now....another good sign!

I'm just glad we haven't been linked to Michael Owen again

Just to make things clear, Borini is not very gifted and he hasnt got neither 1/100 of the talent and tecnique of Balotelli. But he is a real professionist, hard worker and pure finisher. He was brilliant this season at Roma and he was in the Italy squad at EURO2012 which is never easy for a guy of his age. I thought he could do well at Roma with Zeman as coach this season but hopefully he will keep developing as player at Liverpool aswell since the coach already knows him.

Until the part in bold, I was wondering if we had just signed an Italian Dirk Kuyt! Thanks for piss1ng on our parade

I'd heard of him yeah, but how much can you really see from a player by watching a 2 minute Swansea clip on MOTD...they weren't really on TV that often.

A mix between Kuyt and Inzaghi.

I saw a lot of him at swansea, yeah zeman is correct, not the most technically gifted but has that natural finisher instinct about him, his movement is some of the best ive ever seen. I was going to a lot of swans games around the time borini was in the team, he is fantastically strong for someone of his frame, he isnt short (6ft approx) and can unsettle defenders easily.

I agree with Zeman. His time at Roma has seen his passing, control and technique increase simply due to the fact that we play a fast paced passing game. Pass and move pass an move. It's what forced Borini to evolve into the player that you will see at Liverpool.

Currently better than the next Italian sensation Destro IMO.

His hard work will pay off in the end. I hope he continues to develope at Liverpool.

I will say this though, he needs a bigger player to play off of. Then again he was in mighty form when Osvaldo got injured for us so perhaps he can lead the line just fine. Give him a little bit of patience and time and you'll see him flourish.

He loves to squeeze into the tiny spaces between defenders and as the poster before said, he's got excellent strength for his size. Will never forget how he shrugged off lucio with ease or was throwing his weight around Walter Samuel.

Hopefully see quite a few games for Liverpool this season

Borini is the kind of deal we should be doing. The very best of the potential.

The only problem would be that people might expect too much, too soon. He is 21.

We were gutted that we lost Miroslav Stoch, Franco Di Santo, Gokhan Tore, Gael Kakuta, Jeffrey Bruma, Jack Cork, Patrick Van Aanholt, Joe Cole, Carlton Cole, Wayne Bridge, Michael Mancienne and Scott Sinclair too - and the list goes on.

In retrospect, maybe the club made the right decision in all those instances. And maybe we dont accurately gauge these players at all.

Borini's a tricky one for me. No question that he can poach some goals. He's just so ordinary in everything else that there's always going to be a question mark over whether he's good enough.

A player like him is very good to have around the squad. But Liverpool have enough players good enough to build a squad with.. its the players of starting quality you guys need.

I think what we are looking for are players who'd go into the top bracket in 2-3 years.

I'd be delighted if we can pull off a similar deal for a winger.

Lol Carlton Cole.

Fair enough mate but he seems to have a lot of potential. From what I know he isnt the most naturally gifted but he has the attitude to make it far with what he has.

We will see. Either way, even if he flops at least we haven't spunked so much money on him.

think you've finally lost the plot koeman.

kakuta, bruma, van aanholt are all still chelsea players. kakuta returned from loan to dijon, van aanholt has just been loaned to vitesse, and bruma is into the second season of a loan deal with hamburg i think.

and bloody hell, were we really gutted when di santo left?! when carlton cole, wayne bridge etc.... if you're getting upset by that you must have a pretty miserable existence

i know it's all objective, but i mean di santo had an absolutely dire season on loan at blackburn so i dont think anyone really gave a flying one that we got rid. carlton cole had big attitude problems back then, and had had some unsuccessful loan spells...by which time he was surplus to requirements. bridgey was popular yeah, but was anyone actually "gutted" that he left?? good player and i liked him, but we got a very good price, for what was essentially a backup player.

the only ones i was genuinely gutted about were fabio borini and miroslav stoch, and was disappointed we let jack cork go.

anyway as for fabio borini - if any of you guys have looked in his thread on the chelsea forum, you'll know how highly i regard him. thechelseablues always rated him highly as well.

he seems an absolutely top professional, who has got such a steely determination to achieve. that kinda personality is pretty rare nowadays, in the age of overpriced, egotistical young players. as has been said he maybe wasn't the most technically gifted player (always thought he was decent without being special) but his eye for goal his phenomenal and is a really confident and composed finisher. his natural fitness is top class, got a real engine on him, and he's versatile. top signing

Anyone who has seen him day in and out definitely rates him. The signs are good. Who was our last good signing that made a major impact? (apart from Suarez)

The last good window probably was the one where we got Torres, Yossi.

The next one was Keane and Dossena.

The next one had Aquilani and Johnson

After that was the RH window

The next one had Suarez

and after that we had the Adam, Henderson and Downing window.

So you've had the chance to see him over two competitive games now, so what's everyones first impressions?

Saw his goal, took it well. Little bit heartbreaking seeing him do that in a liverpool shirt haha

I'm going to have a little soft spot for liverpool this season, which makes me feel a little sick tbh. Borini, Rodgers Joe Cole. And I'm a big Downing fan...

i've kept an eye on him since he was at swansea, he has brilliant movement, so good in fact the lino on thursday called him offside twice when he was on. He is a decent footballer, not overly technical but we have lacked a goalscorer and he is that, suarez is there to do all the brilliant touches, the nutmegs etc. Pretty impressed so far, if he chips in with 10 league goals this season ill be very happy.

It's really good that he's already scored a goal for us. He's got the first one out of the way and that's supposedly the hardest, just ask Crouch

I reckon he'll get 15 goals for us as Zeman said.
