Thumbs up Roda Antar... 3 goals!

In his first Bundesliga game with Freiburg today against Bochum, Roda Antar scored 3 goals! That's a great achievment from him, newspapers in Lebanon tomorrow will be filled with that news
He has been injured for several months, now he's fit again I believe. Last season with Hamburg was ruined with injuries and disagreements with the coach, I wish he'd go to Hamburg again now, Topmoller should bring the best out of him.
I think most of all dont know him, so let me tell you more:

Name: Roda Antar (pronounced Reda 3antar)
Nationality: Lebanese
DOB: 12 September 1980
Position: Attacking Midfielder (like Ballack :USA_Blue )
Former Clubs: Tadamon Sour (Leb), Hamburg

*He's the first and only Lebanese player to play outside Lebanon, hopefully not the last

Great job Roda

very good to see roda doing well. Hopefully Moussa gets a chance to shine soon, but he has had problems with Lebanon coaches? I didn't get it. Lebanon was grouped with Vietnam, South Korea and some other country. Are they good enough to finisn second. I still remember how tough of a time Thailand was. Hopefully they do better or is it over and time to focus on basketball.

Well even if they finished 2nd, only the 1st qualifies.

Moussa had a fight with the coach Tarde (he's fired now) over the captian's badge. Tarde decided to give the badge to Youssef Mohammad hours before the match against North Korea so Moussa (being an egomaniac) refused to take part in the match unless he gets the badge back. Tarde refused, Moussa didnt play, and Lebanon drew 1-1 in a game they were suppose to win. After that things just went down hill. That's Lebanon for you :I

Correction bro. top 2 qualify. they changed it this time:

http://soccernet.espn.go.com/feature?id=284856&cc=5901

The first and second place teams automatically qualify for the finals. The third placed teams from each group will play a two-legged knock-out match for the right to play the fourth place team from the Concacaf region for a place in the finals.

I remember back in 1992/1993 when Lebanon was in a group with India, Sri lanka and South Korea and no one thought S.K. would make it to the WC in 94 and they did. At least this time, I am sure Lebanon can make it to the second round. Just the ego's and immaturity (haitham zein is it?) has improved. It killed me watching them blow it against Thailand and do not expect the same to happen again. But since I left Lebanon in 1995, all my favorite guys are either old or retired (Ansar fan so go figure, is jamal taha still playing?) I still wish they didn't fire the German coach who really made Lebanon look good when beating others 8-0. Who is the modarib al jadeed for montakhab louban el youm?

I dont really remember things from the early 90s Im still young lol

Jamal Taha coached Ansar last season, now he's assistant to a German coach.
Now the Leb coach in temporarily Mahmoud Hammoud.
Kallon played for Tadamon in 1996, he was like 15 and 16 and was brilliant. Now he screwed up his career.

Oh and IBES you are wrong man! What you said applies to the 2nd round. In the round only the winners of the groups qualify, that would be Korea!

ouch, you are right. Hopefully Wataney can beat S.k and get a draw, or get 2 draws with S.K and blast 20 goals between the other 2 teams. I heard there is a new team, Olmypique Beirut? wtf, now I know I missed out alot. lol. Hopefully they can do something and accomplish this since it seems the basketball days are almost behind us or are they still going well after the world cup?

lol Olympic Beirut is a huge story. A rich guy came 2 years ago, bought that team, took him up to the 1st division and the bought a whole host of players (he was the Ibrahimovic of Lebanon!). In their first season last season they did the double; league and cup! AlAnsar is really struggling nowadays.

The basketball here is passing through a slump, the league started last week. Fadi ElKhatib got accepted to play for LA Clippers but Sagesse wont let him go! Everybody is fighting and Riydai threatened not to participate!

lol anyways, are you thinking of comming back to Lebanon??

the clippers??? better stay home then and get a better deal. Sterling is a cheap S.O.B. and would treat him like crap.

Never got into the league thing ever since 1995 riyadi pulld out during the semi's against Monte La salle. Too much politics in that sport. Seen the highlights of the Iraqi coach of riyadi and how crazy fans go over a game. No thanks. I almost had a try out with nadey al wardeiy, its the rose team in mansoureih I think. I turned it down since I was only 18 and was visiting lebanon to see my friends graduate from high school.

As for me, I still don't see myself going back to Lebanon really. I banged the drum hard to leave back in 1995 since I hated the education system there. Freaking Broummana High School. Plus the way things are with the govt and how its treating its people makes me wanna stay till things are changed. Plus with lawschool now, seems very rare that I would wanna spend only 2 weeks in Lebanon. I usually go for 2 months, or like in 2000, 3 months just so I can kiss every family member and eat at their houses - that alone takes a month to do.

Thanks for the updates. What ever happened to Fadi 3aloosh hahaha.

He wasnt a rich guy, his brother was connected here in the states but they whacked him ,so taha inherited the money , but now hes in jail facing fraud charges, I live in Canada but i go once ina while to Beirut.

Fadi Alouch,**** i hated him so much ,all he was good at was heading the ball, but was so lucky he scored lots of goals, i lived few minutes away from Albaladi ,me and my friends used to eith climb on the walls surrounding the stadium or the tower beside the firestation there or on top one of the buildings and watch the games ,then we'd go to the safa stadium watch another game , not to mention skipping school to go to these games, those were the good old days

Fadi Alouch is no where to be seen but he is said to have become very fat and totally lost his shape.
For you non-Lebanese here, Allouch is like the Emile Heskey of Lebanese football. lol.
nice hearing those memories, why dont you guys check out the lebanese football sites? there are quite a few now.

Lol, but alouch did win championschips and score some important goals. That one from the midfield when everyone said he was offsides. HE is more like the Gazza of Lebanon.

Here is something for you guys. David Nakid? He played for Ansar during the glory days and scored that goal that tied ansar-nijmeh game vs Egypt at birj hamoud where the riot almst broke out. Where is he now?

you dont know what happened to David Nakid? he came back and played with Ansar 2 seasons ago but then got into a fight with the club so he sued them to FIFA, then few months ago FIFA announced that David wins and Ansar must pay him some compensation. lol crazy stuff.

I am telling you I left in 1995 and never heard of lebanese soccer until FIFA shut them down for a while because of match fixing and haithem Zein was a key witness??? not sure on the last part, but where did David go before his return to the great fields in lebanon. Do they still play in that one stadium that has a wall directly behind the goal on one side. lol. Man, I remember where tripoli and birj hamoud were considered the best because they had turn on them and the rest were dirt or sand. Hopefully they imrpoved it, never did get to see el madeney el riyadeyeh since I was there during euro2000 and thought asian cup would follow, but found out to my dismay that it was in October and just had to say roohey keelo hawa, october? we have schools and weather isn't that great. was so pissed. I even have a generic soccer lebanese jersey

I only respected 4 players in Ansar , Omar Edelbi he was a saraf just across the Albaladi stadium , Jamal taha was like Viera just a workhorse and their f ukin speedy wingers Shehab and Miselmani they were like Overmars in his heydays lol ,oh and their goalie Abu Abed who was a mechanic during the day lol.

David Nakid was a great freekick taker ,he also used to take the corners and place it way ahead of the circle of the corner kick just to piss the nejmeh crowds , once we went to a nijmeh-ansar game at birj hamoud 4 hours ahead i swear and the buildings surrounding the stadium were also full !!

I doubt it mate, many things need to be changed back home till I go back and visit. What stadium though was it that had a huge cement wall behind the net. I just thought how painful it could be if someone shot a screamer, it went in, ricocheted off the wall and slammed the gk again, like double punishment. lol.

Abd el Fattah was awesome player, and remember that player from AL Birj who had the baggio tail as well? Ali Fakeh was the gk though for ansar and there was sergi the armenian that I liked as well?
