Miron Bleiberg
Miron Bleiberg resigned from the head coaching position at the Queensland Roar to help the out-of-form club reach its pre-season goal of a top-four position.
The Roar has won only once in their past eight games and after the 0-1 loss to Adelaide United on Saturday that saw the team drop to fourth spot on the Hyundai A-League ladder, the club accepted Bleiberg's resignation.
"Last Thursday, prior to the game against Adelaide United, I handed a conditional resignation to the CEO of Queensland Roar," Bleiberg said.
"The condition was that if we did not achieve a positive result against Adelaide then I would withdraw from my position."
Despite dominating possession against Adelaide, the Roar's aim of finishing in the top four is under threat due to a string of poor results and their inability to score goals.
"At the start of the season I made a commitment to the club that we would achieve finals football by finishing in the top four of the Hyundai A-League," Bleiberg said.
"Although the club is still well in contention for this and currently lies in fourth place, I feel that in recent times we have been heading in the wrong direction and our results have reflected this."
Roar CEO Lawrence Oudendyk accepted Bleiberg's resignation, yet took the opportunity to thank him for the work he has done for the club since its inception into the competition.
"With deep regret the board of Queensland Roar FC have accepted the resignation of head coach Miron Bleiberg," Oudendyk said.
"Miron has been pivotal in creating a persona and profile for Queensland Roar and it is accurate to say that we would not be what we are today without his dedication, energy and commitment."
Oudendyk indicated that no decision has been made as yet about a replacement.
"The club will hold a board meeting tonight when the issue of a replacement will be discussed. A further statement will be issued in due course."
