UNITED have been linked with a move for Leicester midfielder Muzzy Izzet, with transfer speculation concerning the Whites heating up ahead of next month's transfer window opening.
The 27-year-old Turkish international had been expected to move back to the Premiership ever since the Foxes were relegated last season, but he has turned down both Aston Villa and Middlesbrough already.
There is no official confirmation of any interest in Izzet from Elland Road, but Terry Venables has revealed that he has a number of targets in mind, and has met with Chairman Peter Ridsdale to discuss which moves to make in January.
As reported earlier this month, Venables has an 'A' and a 'B' list of players that he would like to see at the club, but both depended on how much money was available and the wage demands of players. He also admitted that a number of players he tried to sign in the summer remain on his wish list.
There has been no end of speculation in recent weeks on players that might be leaving Elland Road, but one player supposedly attracting interest definitely won't be leaving.
Barcelona are said to be preparing a bid for Paul Robinson, but the Catalan club's chances of getting Leeds to part with the England goalkeeper are rated between zero and none. Venables, and Peter Ridsdale, have made it clear that the club's young crop of players are not available.
Also in the press today, Leeds are said to be ready to about face competition for Argentinean centre-half Gabriel Milito from Blackburn Rovers.
Milito, keen to move to the Premiership, revealed last month that he believed there had been interest from United in him.
"Leeds have called my club and that is definitely interesting because I would love to play in Spain or the Premiership," he said.
