Inter enquire about Per

Internazionale are on the trail of highly-rated Germany international Per Mertesacker.
The 21-year-old currently plays for Hannover in Die Bundesliga but is eventually expected to join a bigger club.
He is already established in the Germany setup and is expected to be included in the squad when they host the World Cup finals next summer.
His performances for club and country have caught the eye of Italian giants Inter, who have registered their interest with Hannover.
Though Inter shied away from lodging a firm bid for the defender, they made Hannover fully aware of their admiration for Mertesacker.
Hannover would be reluctant to lose the promising stopper, who is under contract until the summer of 2007.
But Hannover may struggle to keep hold of Mertesacker until the expiration of his contract, if he impresses in the World Cup. Inter will keep a watching brief on Mertesacker and may move for the youngster before the World Cup, when his value could easily increase.
