What do you guys think about shifting Arne from RB to the Center?

Imagine a pairing of Metzelder and Friedrich in the middle. They are both very quick yet also tall, strong. I know Friedrich's preferred position is rightback but he can and has played in the middle. Mertesacker is a great talent but he just seems to nervy right now, needs more experience.

Hinkel is more than capable of playing rightback, He is fast and more skillful/attacking than Arne.

Hinkel-Friedrich-Metzelder-Lahm

That is a very quick defense. If they fukk up, at least they have the quickness to recover a lot of the time.

Since Klinsmann seems so obsessed with experimenting, why doesnt he try this out.

Yes, I agree with you very much. I always think that Friedrich should play as centre back instead of RB. Merte played not well last night. Moving Friedrich to the centre is better placing Huth in that position.

Hinkel from VFB amateurs!

Hinkel's game is pieces now.He needs to be careful or he will be playing regionaliga in a few years time.

Hinkel might not be in great form but then again we have a lot of players at rb. Volz, Owoyomela, Frings, Schneider, Gorlitz when he recovers.....Bottom line is Friedrich is needed more at cb than rb!

You guys need to come back to reality. The defensive situation is downright scary right now. The amount of goals being giving up is not acceptable. Imagine playing Brazil, Argentina, Holland in the world cup with this defense! Like I said before, something needs to change...

Ok, Metzelder is back thank god, lets give him and Mertesacker a chance together but if that doesnt work, there are only two options, move Arne center or switch to 3-5-2. Staying with the current state of defense is a disaster waiting to happen. Add to that the fact that the team has no natural "destroyer" in midfield, it is even worse.

I used to find that idea very appealing, specially after the EU2004 where our CBs were ****. But now after alot of BL games, I realize that Friedrich is alot better and beneficial as RB than being a CB. This way we're enforcing a weak spot by taking a good player out of his fav position and putting him in a position that won't make him very comfortable. He won't perform well in his new post and the RB post will be damaged. It's like correcting a mistake by creating another mistake. Besides, Hinkel is ****ty now. Friedrich stays RB. We have to find a proper CB. Options are:
Mertesacker, Metzelder, Sinkiewicz, Madlung, Woerns. All are rather poor chioces :(
There no escape from the fact that we have a BIG problem with out CBs.
