Arsenal are monitoring the progress of German striker Stefan Kiessling.

The 21-year-old has impressed this season with three goals in eight games for FC Nurnberg.

Kiessling, who enjoyed his first full campaign last term, has also shone on the international stage with Germany's Under-21 side.

Now the giant target man is attracting interest from around Europe, but Nurnberg want him to extend his current deal - which has two years to run - and his agent would also like him to remain with the Bundesliga outfit.

"We have had many enquiries for our players, but nothing concrete on the table," Nurnberg's sporting director Martin Bader.

"We would like to keep Kiessling until 2009, but we could settle for extending his contract for just one more year."

Kiessling's representative Ali Bulut confirmed Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger had been in touch.

"Arsene Wenger has enquired about Stefan," said Bulut. "But Nurnberg have looked after him very well and I can only advise him against seeking a transfer."

Bulut is to meet with Nurnberg in the coming weeks to discuss a new deal for his charge.

"This meeting has been planned for weeks. We will see what numbers are discussed," he added.

not good, but he's near.. since a ratio of 1 goal every 2 games is considered good enough for a striker.. but statistic must be based on more number of games..

The agent says Arsenal are interested..Nurnberg then say "oh ****-other clubs are looking at Stefan"

End result-Nurnberg offer Kiessling a wage increase and the agent gets a % share.

The guy is making progressive improvements. He's playing regularily now & even scoring in the bundesliga with a quite decent rate. I think he should stay with Nuernberg.
One Q I have though. Is he playing now, just because Mental is injured???

mintal isnt a striker last i knew.. just an offensive midfielder who sat just in behind the strikers..

dunno who is off the line-up for Keissling to play, but does it really matter?

It matters ofcourse. Cuz once that injured player returns, Kiessling's on the bench once again :(
Marek Mintal is attacking midfielder yeah.
