View Full Version : Podolski VS Rooney
Coldplay

At this moment, i'll say Rooney is waaaaaaaaaaay better than Podolski. But in the long run, will the situation be slightly different?
IMO, Podolski is not as fast as Rooney, but technically they are simply the same. and so is their finishing, i think both are top class finisher especially in their generation.
How can you people comment on this?

the whole world will see that Podolski is better than Rooney in World cup 2006

Halleluja... I think this poll is unneccesary like furuncles. But I think Rooney is still better but Podolski closed the gap. Podolski has to be more dominant in a game.

Rooney is still a year or so younger than Podolski. If Rooney can sort out his temperament he has the talent to be one of the all time greats. I am a big Podolski fan, and I am sure he will do well in his career, but he can't match Rooney's talent (yet!).

Rooney is actually borned 3 months later than Poldi.
I think if Poldi plays in a top club like Bayern, Arsenal, Chelsea, AC Milan, Man U may develop his talent much further. At that time, he will be a world class player

I voted Rooney and I am a huge Poldi Fan :clap
Poldi is a great finisher and a good passer. However, Rooney is a great finisher as well but is also more agressive. He can create for himself and he can take defenders one on one.
Rooney can cause more problems for a defense. (for now)
Since the 2 are very young, this can change really fast.

Roony is better. His aerial ability is much better than Podolski. Also Roony enjoys a stronger body built allowing him to endure harsh tackles. On the other hand, Podolski shooting accuracy is better and he takes the upper hand when it comes to dribbling and ball control.

At this point this comparison is not fair to Rooney. Rooney is a starter for one of the tope clubs in Europe, one of the top players in EC2004 and a first choice for the England NT team. Rooney has arrived both domestically and Internatiionaliy. Poldi has great talkent but I find it hard to compare him to Rooney at this point. Being the top scorer in the BL2 and having had a good ConFed cup is hardly the crtieria to be World class or compared to other top players. Until Poldi has real success, the only thing that Rooney and Poldi have in common is age!

basically cannot compare one player with another.. it's like u compare ballack with lampard or gerrard.. or henry with sheva.. or anything of that sort.. they have their strength, and they have their weaknesses..

Yea, and it would be neutral if placed in the English forum, right? That's some sound logic there.

Nobody would vote in the English forum because most English fans haven't even heard of Podolski. There lies the main difference, Rooney has already achieved a lot on the international stage (Euro 2004) and in the Champions League. Poldi is more than capable, but hasn't broken through yet, partly due to Germany only playing friendlies and his team-mates at Köln being a pile of horse ****.

That a boy analyst! Welcome back, Oh and tell Hansa to get out of the relegation zone in the BL 2 and back into the top three... we need the "Ostländer" back in the top flight!

Erm... do you actually watch football or do you just post random comments on internet message boards? :Knob
Rooney can also play in midfield, he plays in attacking midfield for Man Utd most of the time, and as for his work rate, whilst Poldi works damn hard, Rooney never stops running and chasing.
Don't misunderstand me, I believe Poldi will be a world star, but he isn't the real deal yet. Rooney is, and he will only get better!

Very hard and IMO impossible to compare them atm. Rooney plays already at a world class club, whilst Podolski plays for a club who's fighting for relegation.
they're both the same type of player. strong, great technique and they work both hard for their teams.
2006 will be Podolskis year :USA_Blue that's for sure!
But nethertheless, he should move to a bigger club. Then I'll compare them again ;)

I didn't say that Rooney doesn't play in midfield so you better withdraw your words and be careful while speaking :nono
Of course currently Poldi is not as good as Rooney, it's obvious. However I believe he will be better than him soon. There is no need to treat Rooney as if he's the Messiah!
