Good player and Everton is definitely in the market for a striker today. I check out a couple of Everton message boards periodically and there are a lot of fans who would as soon have Keane as just about anyone within the club's perceived price range. He would be a good partner for Beattie up front. Supposedly Everton made a bid for him earlier and Keane turned them down, wanting to remain at Spurs. That might have changed though. Although the Liverpool Echo said today that Everton was to bid on Nugent from Preston and that there was nothing to the Keane rumors. We'll see.

Apparently Spurs wanted 10 million for him, which is just too much. Not as outrageous as the 5 mil price tag Preston slapped on Nugent -- who they bought for 100,000 in January! Well, having van der Meyde will definitely help up front. Moyes might even push Davies and VDM up into a 4-3-2-1 or even a Chelseaesque 4-3-3. I imagine a striker will be on the January shopping list though because Beattie is better suited to playing with a partner.
