Sorry to be abit arrogant here, but we're F****** amazing. :)
1-0 at home to Walsall and we dominated after the first 10 minutes. Excellent passing Brazil style game tore Walsall apart. Dario Gradi said it was one of the best performances he'd seen in his 20 years as manager of Crewe... and that's going some. We've signed a new left back, Tonkin from Stockport, and now the Welsh winger who's set to be better than Giggs can move from left back to left wing, David Vaughan. Ben Rix, Justin Cochrane, Dave Brammer and Kenny Lunt make our midfield brilliant. Can you tell confidence is high in Crewe? :)
As for Walsall, the biggest one man nancy team EVER. If Merson wasn't up for it then they're f***ed.

beat cambridge 2-1 away and what a brilliant performance it was from all the players with a excellent break from disley beating the offside trap and scoring with a cool finish
we got sent down to 9 men for most of the game christie it looked for two shoulder barges which i would not deem any a booking and definately not a sending off
day i feel was a sending off looking at the highlights today
also just before half time a stewerd tried to lunge at us and had to be arrested by the police :laugh
curle was lucky not to get sent to the stands after going mental at the ref at half time
anyway the second half
cambridge got awarded a penalty which suprised the lot of us as he saved it :o
near the end of the match around the 70 min mark, lawrence got upended in the penalty box and suprisingly we got the penalty wouldn't have thought so going on previous decisions lawrence sent the keeper the wrong way 2-0 to the stags
then not long after lawrence had the ball and got sandwiched between two cambridge tackles which in all honesty both should of gone not just kitson
not long after the one who survived getting sent off secured a life line for cambridge with a well taken goal
we survived into final whistle which must go down as one of the stags great performances :king

Thanks for the frank observation bud and its what everyone has said about us. 4 games, no goals and 4 defeats. Lost to Watford at home who had a man sent off before the 20th minute AND had lost all of their last 9 away games.
We were absolutely pathetic, embarrassing and GRRRR!
I think these comments, all about striker Dean Ashton, sum it up. Made by our stand in manager Neil Baker:
"There was certainly one player out there I was disgusted with, and I've told him. I can't do a great deal about it because I've got nobody to replace him with.
"Im not sure he's taken it on board, Im not even sure if it bothers him, it certainly bothers me.
"You hope the forwards can make something but that was never the case today. Our forwards were pretty woeful. You can talk about talent and ability, and they've both got it, but there wasn't sign of it today.
"I think i would have been more popular if I had bought Dean Ashton off. He should have come off but he's still as likely as anyone to get the goal.
"He didn't compete, he didn't try and that's not the first time that's happened, and Im not sure it'll be the last time either. He's been called up for England U-21s, I'd like to pull him out because his performance today was a disgrace."

Derby were useless going forward despite having alot of the possesion then their defence was b******* and we opened them up on 3 counter attacks. We weren't anything special but why should we be when we play s*** teams like them. They came with the big club attitude got punished for it so their captain got sent off for trying to strangle our defender in frustration.

and it was a easy 3 points against Preston, despite the close scoreline 2-1.
We scored two quality goals, one which involved a good 15 passes in the build up and the other a bullet diving header from a corner. Then Fuller got sent off for a push or elbow on our defender which probably got them worked up for it abit more so we were on the back foot a few times. We had a few chances and a couple of one on ones so it could have been 3-1 or 4-1 if we had stuck them away.
Still, 6 points in two games and up to 11th the week will be made perfect if we can thrash the Clayheads(Stoke) on Saturday.

Beat Reading 1-0. Scored a 15th minute goal then just sat back and defended excellently to annoy Reading. Reading should have had 2 men sent off for proffessional fouls and we should have had one more goal at least in the first half, but then again Reading had the possession to thrash us.
Excellent win to take us to 5 games unbeaten(3 wins 2 draws). But thats the crap you get when you Mr Average returning from a heart op. ;)
In 12th with some tough games coming up, Palace, Sunderland, Sheff Utd, WBA, Wigan & Norwich all before christmas. So it'll be very interesting to see where we are after that. Brilliant run?
You mean the first bunch of games last season?
Most of them were false results I'm reliably told...either breakaway goals or terrible finishing from the opposition....sounds strange but how we got to 6th position was a mystery to most Town fans.
Then the bubble burst and we lost nearly all of the remaining matches.
Rushbury had to go though....he is a fantastic physio but an awful manager with an arrogant streak a mile long.
From what the msg boards say the performances have been better but we are not getting the results which happens I'm afraid.
Roy McFarland has got the pedigree to keep us up and build but whether he can with the team he has inherited plus the lack of money is debatable.

rushby was a bit of a joke it was funny when your lot appointed him a physio as a manager :laugh chesterfields problem i feel they lack that creative edge (maybe we could give you tom curtis ;) ) but i seriously cant see you staying up. i dont mind a manager who is arrogant myself as it shows faith in his abiltys and should transpire to the players which can only be a good thing and curle is very arrogant :D but he is turning out to be a good manager :USA_Blue

Maybe Eggnspoons can answer better than me cos he watches em regular but we are also saddled with a few players on contracts that we cant afford to terminate...so they can continually play crap and not worry about it....plus due to the sanctions by the football league we have to get rid or loan out a player to get a new one in so its a real dilemma :(
If we survive all well and good but if we go down at least McFarland will be able to get rid of the dross and build cos most of the culprits will be out of contract.
Well Huddersfield Beat Hull 3 v 1. Thats a very good result for us after losing to Accrington Stanley and 6 v 2 to Southend.

We had a pretty crap home defeat to Wigan. Four goals in the space of 12 minutes, pretty mad opening 20 minutes. After the game settled down both teams played good football, but don't agree with Wigan's drama queen act.
They unfortunately got a luckyish goal mid second half. We had a equliser dis-allowed..... for.... we don't quite know. Onside, wasn't handball and no obvious fouls on the defenders - just they got a goal kick.
One thing which brightened the evening was BILLY JONES. Only 16, our 2nd youngest ever player when he made his debut in October. We, and everyone associated with Crewe, knew he was a class act but saying that now is just an understatement. His goal against Wigan is the best goal you'll see this season - first time volley slap bang in the top far corner of the Wigan goal from 30 yards. He's a defender who can play left right and centre, he can also play left right and centre in the midfield AND can strike balls like that. His passing is pin point from 2 yards to 70 yards, in 20 mph gusts and rain. His tackling is amazing, ran from the Wigan half as they broke into our box and slid in to toe-poke the ball out of play. His marking and strength... do i need to say it's top draw?
We're use to seeing good youngsters come into our team but this boy is a different class. Wayne Rooney at 16 and Billy Jones at 16 just isn't worth comparing because Billy has it all. He also knows how to control himself - imagine Rooney at 15 being modest enough to turn down the opportunity to play first team football as it may damage his developement?
He won't get the his own ITV show like Rooney but by 2006 it'll be Billy mania. If he's not in the next Eng U-20 or even U-21 squad then the FA are seriously bent.

To be honest the reason imo is that they can throw money about and sign any lower league player at will which they did with a couple of ours a few seasons ago.
Also nearly every posting Ive ever seen from one of their 'fans' on the CFC message boards has been very negative to Chesterfield...its players and its fans (and I mean nastily negative and not the mostly fair natured ribbing that goes on between proper Blues and Stags fans)
I agree wholeheartedly about the state of Div 2 next year and the potentially mouthwatering and explosive games......although some of it is very unlikely (us stopping up for one :( )

A 2-1 win over Peterborough and an excellent 0-1 victory away to 4th placed Barnsley....apparently we very much deserved both victories :)

Well this season has been a massive disappointment at the moment. Started off with the loss of two of our best attacking players, Tom Youngs and Omer Riza plus the hub of our midfield Paul Wanless. Financial problems meant that the fans had to raise £100,000 just to help the club to survive. Kitson then sold on Boxing Day with no money from his transfer going to be put towards new players. We are relying on our youth team at the moment. Our home form is probably the worst in the Nationwide league, although with one of the best away records lol. It's been a bad year overall but we are still midtable which shows a lot for our team spirit and determination. If we can survive this season we should then be alright once our young players have settled in more.
One promising thing this season is the form of Luke Guttridge and John Turner, Guttridge has taken the responsibilty of being our main midfielder well and looks like a definite future captain. Turner who is only 17 (in my avatar ;)) has been on hot form, great partnership with Kitson although now he will be our main striker after just over 20 appearances for the club.
The future can only get better :D

Our season has been absolutely superb, didn't start off too well by not winning any of our first three games, but our form picked up as we went 11 games unbeaten and went top of the league. It dipped a bit again when we lost in the LDV Vans Trophy, FA Cup and lost a league game, but our form has picked up again as we have now won 7 games in a row, 4 points clear of QPR and 12 clear of 3rd placed Bristol City. Paul Sturrock has won two Manager of the Month awards and has won the Tissot National League award as well, so things couldn't be better.
My apologies to USA Blue, I went to the game and it was a mix of good play from us and sloppy play from Chesterfield, I couldn't believe we were 5-0 up after 17 minutes, I hope you can turn it around and stay up.

What can be rightly called a 6 pointer was played between Chesterfield and Wycombe today.
Wycombe raced to a 2-0 lead but the Spireites managed to scrape a 2-2 draw with goals from Brandon and Evatt.
Not good enough Blues.....we are running out of games and not picking up enough points.
The pressure on Roy McFarland is rising especially as Spireites legend and past manager Nicky Law is looking for a job.
Personally I dont care who is at the helm as long as we can just avoid the drop and build for next season.

Chesterfield 4-2 QPR
Chesterfield pulled off the shock of the day in Division Two to condemn Rangers to a second successive defeat.
The Rs dominated early on Tony Thorpe rounded Carl Muggleton to make it 1-0. Jamie McMaster thumped the Spireites level after Glynn Hurst's shot hit the post and Chris Brandon's free header put them 2-1 up after half-time. Steve Palmer's sensational 25-yard drive levelled it again but Hurst nodded the home side ahead and Mark Hudson sealed the win late on.

We won 2-1 to Bury! but I think we can beat the drop!!!
Peterborough 0-2 Chesterfield
Chesterfield jumped out of the drop zone and sent Peterborough into the bottom four by winning at London Road.
Posh could have gone infront early on but were denied a penalty when Ian Evatt appeared to foul Clive Platt. But Glynn Hurst gave Chesterfield the lead after the break when he poked the ball home from close range. Spireites keeper Carl Muggleton made fine saves from David Farrell and Andrew Fotiadis before Jamie McMaster sealed the win after a flowing move.
A real six pointer here....very nice to build on last weeks excellent win.
Its real nice to get out of the drop zone (for a change!!)
We have still got a massive mountain to climb but our future is still in our hands....good luck Blues.

Chesterfield 2-0 Rushden
Chesterfield continued their climb away from the Second Division relegation zone with a sixth win in nine games.
The home side would have won by an even bigger margin had it not been for Rushden goalkeeper Jamie Ashdown, who made several outstanding saves. Glynn Hurst put Chesterfield in front with a close-range volley. Ashdown saved from David Reeves before Chris Brandon was brought down in the penalty area and Reeves dispatched the resulting spot-kick.
Well thats 3 wins on the trot.

I'm totally 'over the moon' and to be honest did not expect us to stop up.....on this occasion I'm real glad to be proved wrong!!!
Here is a match report taken from the main CFC site btw
Chesterfield bought Ian Evatt and Mark Allott back for the ultimate “must win” game. From the off, Chesterfield went at their opponents, and Reeves had a shot deflected for a corner after 38 seconds. Mark Hudson flashed a free kick over on 3, and the same player came within an ace of giving Chesterfield the lead after a fine tenth-minute move that started with a Brandon break down the left. Allot and Hurst were involved as the ball came forward to Hudson, who still har work to do to get the shot in.
Luton’s Boyce was booked for a foul on 11: clearly, their players had little time for the idea that their season had already finished. From the free kick O’Hare’s shot was goalbound, but Brill intervened to pull the ball in. An excellent Dawson tackle in his own box on 21 set the Spireites moving forward again but the move finished without threatening the Luton goal. O’Leary was booked a minute later for a foul on Dawson. There was a huge roar for a penalty on 23 but Hurst’s shot went “ball to hand” to Boyce, and the referee ignored the claims of the crowd
Another good build-up led to an O’Hare cross and a Hurst header goalwards: Brill was the equal of it, though, as it looked set for the top corner. At the other end Luton’s Robinson curled a shot just over from around 25 yards. As the half closed Robinson broke again: Evatt faced up to him and Niven came in round the back to rob the Luton man
Chesterfield had played with purpose and inventiveness but had lacked punch. Dawson and Evatt were solid, the midfield were winning the ball almost at will but only Reeves and Hurst were ploughing away up front they would need more support from midfield if Chesterfield were to do the necessary.
Chesterfield piled into Luton from the restart, and Brandon and Hudson were there in support! Allott’s long throw caused huge problems in the Luton rearguard: within a minute there were shouts for a pen when Blathers was pushed but Evatt continued and headed just over. A Reeves header from an O’Hare cross was caught under the bar and Reeves was clearly pulled over in the box as he went after an Allott throw, but play continued and the ball was scrambled away.
The Spireites didn’t have it all their own way, and Muggleton and Evatt had to combine to deny the powerful Showumni after a break on 13. Blatherwick was booked on 61 for complaining about having his shirt pulled in the box and Coyne followed him in for a push on Reeves. The free kick produced another epic scramble that ended with Nicholls clearing off the line. Dawson went into the book for a foul on Showumni on 75, as the Luton man went through: a few yards closer to the goal and it might have been more serious for him. At the other end Brandon was quite shamelessly shoved over in the box by Nielson but play was allowed to continue.
Robinson replaced Reeves on 66. The Spireites piled the pressure on, but time looked likely to run out. The Luton goalmouth was a mess of desperate clearances and thrashing bodies as players from both sides forgot any thought of such frippery as tactics and positional play, and just steamed in. All the way through the Kop behind them roared louder than at any time since the 1995 play-off semi. Yet still it wouldn’t go in.
DeBolla and Davies replaced Allott (who had played with an injury since about the tenth minute!) and Dawson. The noise got louder, if that was possible, as news of Tranmere’s score came in. The players responded with more effort. Luton wobbled, but let no-one say that they lied down. Nicholls was booked for a foul on Hurst on the halfway line and O’Hare pressure forced an error from Showumni at the other end, as Forbes ran into acres of unattended space
Then, with three minutes to spare, the ball was pumped out of the Chesterfield half from a free kick. Not a hump, but a placed kick towards the head of Evatt, just inside Luton’s half. He flicked on, and Hurst battled with Sol Davis as the ball descended. Davis slipped and underhit his header HURST needed no further invitation and stole in to slip the ball under Brill and into the net. The place exploded. There were six minutes between Chesterfield and safety, and the Spireites, to their credit, spent most of them in Luton’s half. DeBolla twice had a look-in at a quick break but corners resulted: just as valuable, under the circumstances.
The final whistle brought safety and the inevitable pitch invasion. To their great credit Luton’s supporters stayed to applaud their opponents: they are no strangers to such late recoveries. Indeed, I was among Luton supporters when Raddy Antic did it to Manchester City at Maine Road, and I never thought I would see such as that again. Every man was a huge hero. Muggs commanded his box with more authority than of late: Dawson tackled hard and distributed with delicacy. Evatt and Blathers repulsed everything at the back and both got forward to confuse and frighten the Luton defence. O’Hare was just “O’Hare,” and anyone who has noticed this smashing fella’s improvement this season will know what I mean. Niven demolished and Hudson rebuilt: Brandon buzzed and Allott, despite appearing to be hampered by an early injury, did not shirk involvement. Reeves ran himself into the ground and Hurst showed a level of fitness that would have been beyond him last season
Now McFarland has a chance to rebuild, and we await Tuesday’s press conference with interest. I cannot think of a player that hasn’t been improved under his management (well, Gus, but hey!) and I look forward with relish to seeing him make his moves in the summer. Some may move on, but we can confront this fact with confidence that Roy can find replacements who will do just as well. The Second Division will be desperately hard but we can be quietly confident of improvement. Safety in April would be nice

Chesterfield's Caleb Folan fired a last-gasp winner to deny battling Blackpool a point.
The hosts had earlier chances. Wayne Allison went close twice in quick succession in the second half and Jamal Campbell-Ryce tested the keeper.
For Blackpool, Simon Grayson and Richie Wellens almost broke the deadlock before Folan stepped up. Folan joined the fray with just 10 minutes remaining and lashed home after latching on to Allison's pass

Chesterfield 1-0 Blackpool
Chesterfield's Caleb Folan fired a last-gasp winner to deny battling Blackpool a point.
The hosts had earlier chances. Wayne Allison went close twice in quick succession in the second half and Jamal Campbell-Ryce tested the keeper.
For Blackpool, Simon Grayson and Richie Wellens almost broke the deadlock before Folan stepped up. Folan joined the fray with just 10 minutes remaining and lashed home after latching on to Allison's pass
Aye, it was terrible; we deserved a draw.

A dissapointing draw against Torquay.
Although we keep our unbeaten home record we will have to perform loads better when top of the table Luton come to visit.
Our goal was scored by Wayne 'Chief' Allison with honorable metions to Adam Smith who was MOTM.
Even though their Icelandic keeper made some really special saves we should (with all respect to Torquay) have beaten a side such as theirs....2 points lost imo.

Lost 2 on the trot.
The first against high flying Luton.....a match in which to some reports the Spireites well deserved a draw but went down to a goal in the last 3 mins (plus lost their unbeaten at home tag)
Then we went down to crisis club Wrexham and lost deservedly 3-1.....our goal coming from on loan Mark Stallard. Not a good performance at all so I hear.
Well thats 1 draw and 2 losses in the past 3 games where according to form we should have maybe got at least 6 points.
All in all an unhappy Christmas for Chesterfield and they need to stop the rot and get a win before they start freefalling down the league.

Aside from a bit of a rough patch when half the team got suspended, Swansea City has been doing okay. Four points off the pace now, but still in a promotion spot. Should move up next year if they don't get foolish again. Got a 1-1 draw against Reading today in FA Cup, so there will be a rematch at the Vetch. (A bit disappointed the Jacks didn't hang on, though, after leading much of the match!). Overall, a very good year! :drinkbeer

Yeovil 1-3 Chesterfield
Substitute Adam Smith fired Chesterfield to victory and left Yeovil still searching for their first win.
Yeovil went ahead when Luciano Alvares scored from close range but Paul Hall levelled just before half-time.
Smith put Chesterfield 2-1 up from a corner after 53 minutes and then stole round a sleepy defence for his second.
Yeovil were awarded a penalty late on when keeper Barry Roche fouled Kevin Gall but Roche redeemed himself by saving Pablo Bastianini's effort.

Walsall 2-3 Chesterfield
Walsall's woes grew as they threw away a two goal lead to lose at home to Chesterfield, after looking comfortably in control in the first half.
Their day began badly when goalkeeper Andy Oakes was injured in the warm-up and 18-year-old Rene Gilmartin was drafted in for his first-team debut.
Goals by Jorge Leitao and Mark Wright looked to have calmed Walsall's fears.
But two goals by Mark Allott levelled things, before Wayne Allison headed in Shane Nicholson's cross to win it.
Walsall: Oakes (Gilmartin 0), Pead, Westwood, Gerrard, Fox, Standing (Merson 58), Osborn, Smith, Wright (Kinsella 85), Leitao, Fryatt (Husbands 75).

A spectacular goal from Colin Larkin helped Chesterfield record a deserved win against Hartlepool.
Michael Proctor headed Hartlepool ahead early on but Larkin turned the match with a brilliant 25-yard shot just after the interval.
Derek Niven drove home another long-range effort midway through the second half after poor defending.
Paul Hall settled the game when he cut in from the right to score past keeper Dimitrios Konstantopoulos.

Colchester 1-2 Chesterfield
Chesterfield claimed victory to end Colchester's five-match unbeaten run.
They took the lead after 24 minutes when home keeper Aidan Davison failed to collect Paul Hall's cross and Colin Larkin was on hand to score.
Chesterfield doubled their advantage after 48 minutes when Paul Hall got the better of marker George Elokobi to turn and provide a fine finish.
Chris Iwelumo pulled one back with a clinical finish deep into injury time, but Chesterfield deserved the points.

Yet another away win for the Spireites and a good performance to boot.
Ex Tranmere player Paul Hall has been another shrewd buy by Blues boss Roy McFarland
Colin Larkin once again finding the net is a bonus....if he can continue in this rich vein of form and remain injury free then the future will definately be bright for us.
Of course the season is still young and like the last few before I will be happy with survival.
A play off position would be fantastic but on a shoestring budget and a relatively small squad we are very much against it (with once again the bookies having us fave's to go down) Hopefully we can prove them wrong again :)

Milton Keynes Dons FC 0 Chesterfield 0
Match report from the afternoon away draw versus Milton Keynes Dons FC
Ten man MK Dons were left to rue a host of missed chances as they had to settle for a goalless draw against a negative Chesterfield outfit.
Izale McLeod was the main culprit, missing three golden opportunities before Dons skipper Paul Mitchell and manager Danny Wilson saw red late on.
Wilson named the same team that drew 1-1 at Walsall, with Gareth Edds continuing in right midfield in place of the injured Wade Small and Leon Crooks deputising for Trent McClenahan at right-back.
Milton Keynes dominated the early exchanges and after Stephen Quinn had been tripped by Gareth Davies on the corner of the box, Nicky Rizzo's dangerous free-kick was headed over his own crossbar by Reuben Hazell in the fifth minute.
Edds forced Chesterfield goalkeeper Barry Roche into a decent save with a long-range half-volley from a well worked Rizzo corner before McLeod's misses.
First he swivelled in the box and fired just past the post, then he pulled an effort badly wide from the edge of the box after neat set-up play by Quinn, before the 21-year-old missed an absolute sitter in the 19th minute.
Rizzo's through ball set McLeod clear, but after his first effort was saved by Roche, he somehow fired the rebound against the post from just four yards before Edds' bundled follow-up was cleared off the line by Hazell.
Dons continued to pile on the pressure in a one-sided first half and Quinn hit the outside of the post with a snap-shot from 12 yards after good work on the right by Edds.
Chesterfield's best chance fell to Colin Larkin who nipped in to cut out Craig Morgan's weak back pass but clipped his effort wide from an angle.
And then Shane Nicholson's 41st minute quick free-kick almost caught out goalkeeper Matt Baker as the visitors improved towards the end of the half.
But the Dons took control after the break and after Davies had felled McLeod on the edge of the box, Rizzo's curling 51st minute free-kick came back off the post with Roche struggling to reach it.
Mitchell's through ball set McLeod away again in the 62nd minute but his touch was too heavy and Roche was quick off his line to smother.
Mitchell, who was yellow carded in the 61st minute for kicking the ball away, was given his marching orders nine minutes later for persistent offending after bringing down Chesterfield substitute Sammy Clingan in his own half.
The Spireites came back into the game with their numerical advantage but the best they could muster was Derek Niven's long range strike that Baker tipped over acrobatically.
Dons boss Wilson was sent to the stands late on by referee Trevor Parkes as tempers boiled over.
A lucky lucky point for the Spireites there.
By all reports MK Dons should have won at a canter....but thats football for you and Chesterfield have/will play loads better and come away with zip.

Chesterfield 4 Huddersfield 3
Huddersfield were rocked by an inspired Chesterfield first-half performance but the visitors could still have ended up salvaging a point from a highly entertaining match.
In the end, the Terriers were left to reflect on a 51st minute penalty miss by the normally lethal Pawel Abbott as a turning point after they came close to pulling the game out of the fire in the final minutes.
Chesterfield deservedly led at half time although Huddersfield were guilty on two of the goals and left themselves with a huge task in the second half.
Chesterfield almost threw it away when they switched off in the last three minutes and Huddersfield came close to an equaliser in stoppage time.
That would have flattered them because they were easily second best before the interval when Chesterfield were quicker and sharper in the areas that mattered.
Wayne Allison reminded one of his former clubs of his predatory qualities with a crisp finish in the 11th minute after a neat move on the left had set him up neatly.
Paul Hall left Abbott holding up his hands after the striker carelessly lost possession just inside the Chesterfield half and the home side broke for Hall to beat two players and curl a shot into the top left-hand corner from just outside the box.
There was worse to come for Huddersfield when David Mirfin allowed Colin Larkin to take the ball off him on the edge of the area and drive in number three.
When Allison conceded a 51st minute spot kick Abbott put his effort far too close to Barry Roche and that appeared to be the end of any chance Huddersfield had of getting back into the match.
Roche made a number of outstanding saves and was only beaten when former Chesterfield midfielder Mark Hudson lobbed the ball over him and then coolly followed up to roll the ball into the empty net.
But Mirfin then pushed Larkin and Shane Nicholson showed how to take a penalty with an unstoppable shot into the top right-hand corner.
But Huddersfield kept going and when Andy Booth headed the ball back across goal, Gary Taylor-Fletcher forced Roche into another save but this time Jon Worthington put away the rebound.
Andy Holdsworth got another in the 90th minute and Chesterfield were left rocking during four minutes of injury time and only just held on.

Here is a report from a match or two ago
Chesterfield 1
Oldham Athletic 1
The Spireites made it seven home league games without defeat on Saturday when they drew 1-1 with mid-table Oldham Athletic in freezing conditions at Saltergate. A decent crowd of around 4,500 decided to turn out for the game rather than do their last minute Christmas shopping! Incidentally, this was the Spireites' fourth league draw in a row.
The Latics started the game brightly and former Chesterfield striker Luke Beckett went wide on three minutes after a cross from Paul Edwards. On six minutes more good work from Paul Edwards saw Paul Warne set up but his shot was well saved by Chesterfield goalkeeper Barry Roche.
On seven minutes Paul Hall shot from twenty-five-yards and his effort went well wide of the target. On fifteen minutes Wayne Allison played a good ball to Colin Larkin whose excellent shot was tipped around the post by Latics goalkeeper Chris Day.
On thirty minutes an Alan O'Hare free kick fell to Colin Larkin who was once again denied by Chris Day. On forty-four minutes Andy Liddell went close for the visitors, his effort from twenty yards creeping just wide of the Chesterfield goal.
Half Time: Chesterfield 0 - 0 Oldham Athletic
The away side started the second half well, as they had the first, and took the lead on forty-seven minutes; Luke Beckett went on a good run and chose to pass to Paul Warne who had no problem in slotting the ball past the helpless Barry Roche to give Oldham Athletic the lead.
On fifty-two minutes it was almost 2-0 to the visitors when a good ball from Paul Warne fell to Ritchie Wellens whose effort was well saved by Barry Roche. Fifty-seven minutes saw Chesterfield's first corner with Adam Smith coming on for Kevan Hurst. On fifty-eight minutes Chesterfield almost equalised; Sammy Clingan swung a corner in to the head of Steve Blatherwick, but his effort was tipped around the post by Chris Day. On sixty-three minutes the visitors made their first substitution of the game with Chris Hall coming on for Ritchie Wellens.
Chesterfield equalised on sixty-nine minutes; Adam Smith swung in a corner which found Wayne Allison at the back post who made no mistake in heading home the one-hundred-and-ninety-ninth goal of his career to the delight of the home supporters!
On seventy-eight minutes Chris Porter came on for Luke Beckett, and on eighty minutes Rob Scott was booked for the visitors after fouling Alan O'Hare. On eighty-two minutes Caleb Folan was replaced by Wayne Allison and on eighty-nine minutes Aaron Downes came on for Gareth Davies. Deep into stoppage time the Spireites almost grabbed all three points when Paul Hall's effort was cleared by the arm of Rob Scott, but the referee decided not to award a penalty and the game ended 1-1.
Full Time: Chesterfield 1 - 1 Oldham Athletic A fourth consecutive draw for the Spireites who are now unbeaten in Coca Cola League One since the defeat at Swansea City in October. Chesterfield are in seventh place for Christmas 2005 and just one point away from a play-off place. Not bad to say we were hot favourites for relegation in the summer!

S****horpe United 2 Chesterfield 2
Match report from the afternoon away draw versus S****horpe United
S****horpe grabbed a late goal to rescue a point against Chesterfield who looked to be coasting at one stage.
At the hour mark the Derbyshire side held a two-goal lead, they only had two shots and one of those was a penalty.
S****horpe then got a break and for the final half hour they took control and fully deserved to get something from the game.
Loan man Neil MacKenzie was the star man for the Iron, he literally worked his socks off to inspire his team-mates, with Ian Baraclough also playing a starring role.
Steve Blatherwick was the key man for the Spireites, his powerful display at the centre of defence saw him give little scope to the home side.
Chesterfield made an early break, scoring after only four minutes, this followed a throw by Kevan Hurst which was flicked on by Blatherwick and Paul Hall claimed his 10th of the season with a header at Tommy Evans' right-hand post.
The visitors were strong in defending the lead although Baraclough forced a brilliant save from Barry Roche.
S****horpe were sadly lacking in ideas, MacKenzie inspiring most of their good moves although Roche did well to block Billy Sharp's effort and Andy Keogh had the ball in the net from close range but he was deemed offside.
MacKenzie failed to take a golden chance in the opening minutes of the second half, he was on the goal-line when he was dispossessed.
Chesterfield then consolidated their lead from the spot when Shane Nicholson sent Evans the wrong way, this followed a foul in the box by Iron skipper Andy Crosby on Derek Niven.
Seven minutes later S****horpe were back in the hunt when Baraclough drove home a superb shot from 30 yards. That gave the Iron a lift and Roche did well to save from MacKenzie and Richard Hinds blasted over the top.
S****horpe's last throw of the dice saw Tommy Johnson introduced with ten minutes left.
With 60 seconds remaining on the clock when he was on the spot to knock the ball home after Roche had blocked a MacKenzie shot.
Sorry about the **** in the post....its the sweary word filter working overtime lol

Chesterfield 1 Swindon Town 1
Match report from the encounter with Swindon Town
A hotly disputed second half penalty gave Swindon another precious point in their fight to stay in League One and meant Chesterfield had to settle for a draw for the sixth game in a row.
Paul Hall had given Chesterfield a 20th minute lead at Saltergate, but Swindon showed character to come back, although their equaliser was controversial.
Referee Gary Lewis decided that a fierce shot from Hameur Bouazza had struck Steve Blatherwick on the hand, although a video later suggested it had hit the centre-half in the face.
Bouazza coolly sent Barry Roche the wrong way with the spot kick and that was enough to take Swindon's impressive run under manager Iffy Onuora to one defeat in 11 games.
Although the penalty decision was harsh the result was about right after Swindon displayed resilience and grit against a team just outside the play-off places.
Clear chances were few and far between on a bitterly cold night, although the pitch stood up well in the freezing conditions.
The pace of Chesterfield's front line always posed problems, although it was a long throw that unhinged the visitors' defence.
The ball was headed on and Hall was the first to react to steer a low right-foot shot past Rhys Evans from 12 yards.
Swindon responded positively with Andy Gurney curling a free-kick onto the roof of the net while Ricky Shakes should have done better in the 31st minute when Rory Fallon set him up.
Fallon's pass put Shakes in on the right but he lost his footing at the crucial moment and the ball was scrambled behind for a new corner.
Chesterfield moved up a gear at the start of the second half and forced a string of corners but Swindon survived and got their reward when Bouazza converted the 63rd minute penalty.
Chesterfield looked more likely to win the game after that but there were few genuine chances for either side in the closing stages.
Both managers made substitutions but the closest either side came to another goal was in injury time when Swindon survived a goal line scramble after Evans appeared to be fouled.
Swindon can take heart from the way they recovered while Chesterfield remain unbeaten in the League since late October.

Goodbye the Championship
Well...............yet another draw!!!
Thats 8 on the trot now :ninja
Chesterfield 0-0 Barnsley
Barnsley striker Tommy Wright could not find the net on his debut as the Tykes drew at Chesterfield.
Wright, signed from Leicester, should have opened the scoring in the 51st minute but fired wide, and 20 minutes later Barry Roche saved his shot.
Chesterfield had a good chance of their own nine minutes from the end when Caleb Folan held off Robbie Williams to flash a shot inches past a post.
At the end Wright headed over and Paul Hayes hit a great chance over.

Taxman is from Bristol and though he is a Man United fan he supports Bristol Rovers as well.
Crystal Palace is on a good run at the moment unbeaten in 7.
Other teams my mates support so I hear about constantly.
QPR having an average season in the championship I think mid table this season. My friend in London supports them and has forced his kids to support them also

Notts County a friend up north supports them he was really chuffed when they went up to League one but they soon got relegated to League two.
Wrexham is supported by a friend called Laura's Boyfriend she has to pretend to like them also. Looking at them they never really threaten to break into the championship and probably never will.
I Myself have a soft spot for Boston and Rushden & Diamonds because there conference teams who have made the step up to League two yes they are regulars in the relegation area but they try there best.
That leaves out League one it's like the forgotten league my mates never talk about it I never talk about it my family never talk about it I call it the one in the middle with no good teams. Until one of the above league two teams get promoted that is.

Because I cannot be arsed to read this whole thread, I'll comment.
Leeds are doing very well, especially compared to last season. Currently third and inching up on Crapfield United. Hopefully if history proves anything, they(Sheffield United) will now begin their self destruct sequence as they typically have in the past round this time of year.
Main thing is that Leeds need to win 3 straight games in my opinion to send a message and get the points obviously and that Sheffield needs to lose a few to close the gap.
Overall, chanced of automatic promotion place is looking mighty fine, and that's good because I can't wait to get back into the EPL and have a shot at Liverpool...:salute
