10/31/2002. Fulham, Paris St. Germain and Hertha Berlin have claimed excellent victories away from home, while Lazio, Leeds, Parma and Celtic have all notched narrow home wins in the first leg of their Uefa Cup second round ties.
The big winners this evening have been Fulham, who for the second successive round have won away from home to Croatian opposition. They have effectively sealed their place in the third round with a 3-0 win against Dinamo Zagreb. It was also a good evening for first division outfit Ipswich Town, who won 1-0 at home to Slovan Liberec and Leeds United, who left it late to win 1-0 against Israeli side Hapoel Tel Aviv.
It wasn't all smiles for the English sides though, as Blackburn lost 1-0 to Celtic at Parkhead, although Graeme Souness' side dominated the match.
It was a fairly good night for Serie A sides Lazio and Parma, who both won narrowly at home. Lazio defeated the conquerors of Chievo, Red Star Belgrade, 1-0, while Parma needed a 74th minute goal from Adrian Mutu to claim a 2-1 win against Wisla Krakow.
Alaves scored a late equaliser at home to Besiktas, but the other two Spanish sides in action this evening were victorious. Malaga came from behind to win 2-1 against Amica Wronki and Celta Vigo cruised to a 3-0 win against Viking, who beat Chelsea in the last round.
One of the ties of the round between Turkish giants Fenerbahce and Panathinaikos from Greece has ended level. Pana scored a crucial away goal, but the home side came back to equalise.
Another Greek outfit, PAOK Salonika, have recorded a 2-1 victory at home to Swiss side Grasshoppers Zurich.
Paris St Germain have set themselves up nicely for the second leg after winning 2-0 away to National Bucharest.
Hertha Berlin and FC Porto are in a good positions after winning 1-0 away to Apoel Nicosia and Austria Vienna respectively. Sparta Prague and Sturm Graz also both claimed 1-0 home wins against Denizlispor and Levski Sofia respectively.
Vitesse Arnhem, the one remaining Dutch side in the competition, did their hopes of keeping the flag flying the world of good with an impressive 2-1 win at home to Werder Bremen.

Belgium giants Anderlecht had few problems at home to Midtjylland of Denmark, winning 3-1.
