I think Germany will win, I'm saying 3-1. They have the extra day rest and will be out to redeem themselfs after the Brazil loss on home soil. When Germany beats (notice the when and not if ;) ) Mexico I will say then that this tournie has been a success for them. Lossing one game to Brazil the whole tournament is nothing to be sad about. In fact had Germany won it all with no losses, they might have got a little too over confident for next years WC. One more thing... Ultimate Hero your teams goin' down :moon

Germany would leave with a very pale image if they lose, they are playing at home! This would be too much.

I can not agree with you because this is very young team which will (I asume) give its best for 3, 4, 5 or even more years. From now on they can only be better :USA_Blue
Yes they still didnt won against big team but I am sure they will before next WC.

I think Germany will win, but not by a huge margin. It's their home and they will be looking to at least get third, but don't underestimate Mexico's ability.

Germany will win simply because they are better. And you may use Brazil's defeat as an example, but that is oe of the most undeserved wins I've ever seen...

I wasn't expecting such a biased reply from you. Your beef against Mexican football is frankly pathetic.

I predict a tie with a German win in over time.

2:1 at halftime and I have to say its only a decent game. Mexice continues to impress me with their tactical/perseverance skills. Podolski is IMO playing great... well to judge Podolski you have to count the opportunities he had to do something great. And counting them you have 2 out of 3. You cant judge Podolski on how he plays overall although he would still be decent, you have to check what he does when it comes to almost scoring a goal and there he is brilliant. Deisler plays good too. Huth struggles and Ballack and Schweinsteiger had better days. Schneider had a brilliant scene near the nend, this guy is a tremendous player when he is in form. But that is not that often the case.
Hinkel did great assisting the 2nd goal. He has the stuff to annihilate Friedrich, but for that he has to be more consistent in the coming season.

Summary: I love Podolski for being himself and not doing much more in this game than to assist and score. :drinkbeer:drinkbeer:drinkbeer:drinkbeer:drinkbeer :drinkbeer

I think Mexicans are more skillful than Brasilians :USA_Blue

Podolski is grat alredy (how many times did I said that?).

Why not Borowski (how many times did I said that?)?

Defence is still pretty shaky.

Because is the only thinh he does. He is as amazing with headers as is bad with his feet, and the problem with that is the we have the risk of becoming a team which sends crosses all day waiting for a header, like certain European team.;)

Anyway, I hope the team does ok. They're doing good and I have high hopes for 2006. :USA_Blue :bowing

very good game ...ballack was impressive since the second half started, poldi great goal and great pass to hinkel in the second goal.... hinkel as gerry said has the stuff to be in the starting elf instead friedrich he's more skilled but consistency is his problem, huth was good i liked the way he played today although has still to improve.....kurany lives in the floor......schneider was good he is so versatile....frings ooh dear torsten... out of form erns should replace him . although we scored 15 goals in 5 games which is quite impressive i have to say our main problem is defence we are conceding a lot of goals. we conceded 11 in the whole tournament we have to work that out soon . overall a great game with a lot of goals , gongrats for da mexicans they have a very good team :clap :clap

Wow, that was a wonderful game. Didn't expect such a fight for the 3rd place!

The first minutes were kind of slow from our team...but after a time it became better and better :clap

Podolskis goal was just amazing, as was Scheinis goal (congrats also to Hinkel, 80% of that goal belongs to him :clap)

I'm happy for Robby! Huth that he scored, played very good today. After all the critic he deserved that goal :laugh Everytime he touched the ball, the people screamed HUUUUUUUTTTTTTHHHHHH, HUUUUUUUTTTTTTHHHHH, HUUUUUUUTTTTTHHHHHH :D that was great...

And Ballack was the leader we needed at the end. He was everywhere and helped the team to organize. He did the "Ronaldinhio"...amazing goal from him :laugh

I love this new german team :clap They were fighting, and they never gave up...great teamspirit. We even played with just 10 men! Just great! I can't remember the last time where we scored so many beautiful goals :clap

I don't care about the defence ATM...great football :clap

It was a good game. As others have already pointed out, Podolski's goal was amazing. He will be one the best in the World in a couple of years. Hinkel was very impressive in the first half even though he faded in the second half. I thought Hanke did well. Good ball control and movement on and off the ball even though I thought he was very stupid in getting sent off. I was also impressed by Fabian Ernst. He had a couple of great shot/chances.

The defence is VERY weak. Too many goals, too many bad passes and terrible on set pieces. A lot of work is needed. Kuryani continues to dissapoint me. He did little with his time on the pitch, lost the ball a lot and did little of anything. I did not like Asamoah's play either. I think they both are not NT type players. Schneider was great even though he was responsilbe for the first goal. Overall a first half and great fighting spirit in 2nd half and overtime.

Zvonimir Boban comentated the game after and he said that German aproach to the world championship must be without big expetations like "we must win it" because this German team is not strong like other big German teams in the past. If that would be aproach he said then maybe Germany could win it. He said that this German team has luck of talent except Ballack and Schweini. Also he said that Huth is very average player.
Hm.

Is Borowski defensive midfielder?

I think Germany will win, I'm saying 3-1.

What a smart guy, and it would have been 3-1 had that Australian ref not red carded Hanke. It was a yellow at best, guess the ref was still bitter about the world class whoopin' Germany layed on his country men! :P I was very impressed to see Germany retake the lead not once but twice being down a man, not an easy task. All and all still very happy with this tournie, I see better things to come from Germany in the WC next year. Oh and Congrats to Brazil for winning the whole thing, :bowing P.S. If ya wanna know how to beat the Mexicans you just have to ask! :drinkbeer

that was a great game. once again the attack was very2 nice from both team. however, i dun think hanke shld be redcarded. yellow tops. however, it wasnt very smart of him to charge a player like that after we're playin nicely at that time.
i think we could now have a realistic target of winning WC06 judging by our wonderful performance in this tournament

A lot of work ahead of us before we can dream of being World Champions. We have to fix the defence and get Podolski a decent strike partner. With a bit of improvement, I think we can be a top European team again but we are still far behind Brazil and Argentina. We did well against both teams but it was obvious to me that they are a step ahead. Brazil outplayed us for most of the game even though the end result was flatering. We did score a lot of goals but I really feel that our midfield play has to improve to compete. Our offense revolves around passing, finding the open man and lot of areial balls. A good defense can handle that. We need 2 true ball dribblers who can create havoc on defences and unlock them. I think we have that in Lahm and Hinkel and I look for them to play that role.

If we fix the defense, unleash Hinkel and Lahm, find Podolski a good strike partner, we will be World Champios again. That is easier said that done. Great performance and a great confidence booster for us.

Yeah, we definitely need Metzelder, Lahm, Worns in the team in order to enhance our defensive line. Both Mertesacker and Huth are not Klinsi's first choice CBs i think, if Metzelder and Worns are available, i think Klinsi will pick them at anytime. He delibrately left out Worns before the tournament, and i think moving Friedrich to the CB may be an option as well. Seems like everyone has forgotten about F.Baumann, but i think the chance of him getting back to our NT is slim.

Right now, Podolski is not Klinsi's first choice striker as well. That's Kuranyi, he is trying to find someone who can partner him. But i m sure after this tournament, Podolski will be Germany's no.1 striker. his partner may be Lauth, Kuranyi, Asamoah, Hanke, Neuville, Klose or even Hunt and Delura(where they may have much better chance of playing in Hannover)....
But still, i hope Lauth and Klose can get back to their old form soon. they are very good players indeed

My own choice of 5 strikers will be: Lauth, Podolski, Klose, Kuranyi, Asamoah
