Werder set for Jelle swoop

Werder Bremen are believed to have jumped to the head of the queue for Southampton defender Jelle van Damme.
The Belgian stopper has made it clear that he will not play in The Championship next term, following Saints' relegation from The Premiership, and a host of clubs have expressed interest.
Anderlecht are keen to bring the former Ajax man to Belgium, while Feyenoord are believed to have held talks with van Damme's agent.
However, the clubs from the low countries could be usurped by Werder who are keen to push through a season-long loan deal.
It is believed that Werder will look to bring him to the Bundesliga for a season, before taking up an option to buy provided he impresses over the course of next term.

according to insiders in the bremens-club it only depends on the saints. they want a participation on future transfersums - bremen don't want that. the deal could be official today or this weekend.
bremens start of preseasoning is the july 4th.
