UEFA Champions League newcomers Schalke 04 have confirmed reports that they are tracking Rangers youngster Zurab Khizanishvili - but admit they are not yet convinced he is right for them.
Schalke are currently in the market for a right back who can also play in a more central role and the 23-year-old Georgian international fits the bill.
Team manager Andreas Muller travelled to Albania to watch the former Dundee starlet in action for his country but Khizanishvili struggled as Georgia fell to a 3-2 defeat in World Cup qualifying Group Two, and Muller declared: "He did not fully convince us. We will have to take a more detailed look at him."
Another stumbling block could be the fee required for Khizanishvili's services, who recently extended his contract at Ibrox to 2008.
Muller and coach Ralf Rangnick extended their scouting mission to Copenhagen, raising speculation in the German media that Udinese's Danish international defender Per Kroldrup is another transfer target.
