German defence ?

hi all..

im a german footbal fan since 1990 (i was 6 years old at this time).. so u can say i like germany and the way they play football and their players like lothar matthaus and michael ballack now he reminds me a lot of lothar..

i think its necessary that germany win the confederations cup.. it will give the national team or 'manschaft' a big boost to win World cup 2006..

but i noticed that there are problems in german defence in the last 2 matches against russa and northern ireland and I think with this way of defending Germany cant win against Argentina and Brazil the biggest opponents in the tournament..

Mertesacker is the only super defender in the german defence while robert huth and owomoyeela didnt play well.. i think klinsmann should have chosen babbel, metzelder or christian worns to the national team cause they are defenders with big experience and u need experience in the defence..

what do u think guys ?

Huth and owomoyela arent that good to start with. Owomoyela might have had a decent season but he is nothing special, and as far as Huth goes, he is like a Gorilla, Big, Strong, and brainless. I would love to have Metzelder back in the national side. but he just got back from injury, and rushing him wouldnt be a good idea. Worns still has a lot to offer but he lacks pace which proved to be deadly in Euro 04.

Pal, I think the German attack-line has even more trouble. Right now I don't think Germany has a chance to reach to even reach the semi finals. We're in a mess both in the front line and the defence. As for our midfield, I can't be happy and say it's perfect. It lacks alot of consistency. Frings, Schneider & Deisler are completely out of shape. We rely too much on Ballack which is really sick.

The back for will improve quite a bit when Lahm is back, he also suits Klinsmann's attacking sytle of play much better. Pitty he won't be back 'till the end of the year.

Huth is crap. I would take Babbel or Kehl anyday over him.

i'm not quite sure if kehl is a central defender. babbel isn't that fast anymore. actually friedrich might be the better full rightback than owomoyela(which lacks play-pactrise after his injury,imo). friedrich played well this season for hertha berlin as rightback (correct me dandy if i'm wrong). i would rate wörns higher than babbel. but huth might be set cuz klinsmann like epl or whatever ^^

Klinsmann should give Benjamin Weigelt (Mainz 05) a chance, he was good in this season and is not a sub like the untalented Christian Schulz...

schulz isn't untalented but leftback is not his best position - he plays central defensive midfield much better. thats what he used to play in the u21 and in the werder bremen reserves. the only reason he plays for bremen as leftback is bremen lacks a good leftback and schulz is one of the few which has a left foot so thomas schaaf trained him this position. so that schulz became NT-player on a position he don't really like - says much about this position in the NT and the lack of good alternate's in germany,imo.

well guys.. i see no problem in midfield and attack..
in midfield if the starting line up is schweinsteiger - ballak - kehl - deisler it'll be fantastic.. i dont know why jorgen hates sebastian kehl he didnt play 1 game for germany since klinsmann took responsibility..

believe me deisler is fantastic midfielder but magath and klinsmann are not giving him a chance to perform well.. we see him playing 1 match then the other 3 on the bench.. he cant get his form back this way !

attacking line is good.. the best 3 attackers in germany are lauth, podolski and klose.. and my favorite choice is Podolski - Klose (one good on earth and one good in the air.. just like bierhoff and klinsmann.. heheh) but now klose is injured :( so i prefer asamoah and podolski cause asamoah is very strong and he knows how to annoy defence..

the only problem is defence guys believe me..

asamoah also know how to annoy his own fans ;) he is a dogfighter thats all.
he is a dead-end for a lot of 100% chances. he scored 8 times this season for schalke - wow, this is ridiculous.
