OK now that I stupidly got your attention, Germany vs. Russia should be a little bit of a better test of how the N.T. is doing (no offence to the N. Irish).
Probable line-up:
Germany: Kahn (Bayern Munich) - Hinkel (VfB Stuttgart), Friedrich (Hertha BSC), Mertesacker (Hanover 96), Hitzlsperger (Aston Villa) - Frings (Bayern Munich) - Schneider (Bayer Leverkusen), Ballack (Bayern Munich), Ernst (Werder Bremen) - Kuranyi (VfB Stuttgart), Podolski (1. FC Cologne)
I like the looks of this line up, looks not to bad!

The lineup looks great. Im pleased that Huth isnt playing, but im not too pleased with Hitz playing at left back. but overall, things look promising.

Yup Bast. the Bayern web site tends to agree with you "Fine recent displays may not be enough to earn Sebastian Deisler and Bastian Schweinsteiger more than subs' roles for Germany against Russia."

Pretty good lineup except I also dont like Hitz at that leftback position. Overall I think he is a bit overated. He has a wicked shot and good technique, thats about it. I also dont like Ernst that much, would prefer Borowski.
I would go with....
--------------Hildebrand
Hinkel------Mertesacker-Friedrich-----Schulz
Deisler-----Ballack-----Frings-----Schweinsteiger
---------------Podolski----Kuranyi

Maybe klinsi doesnt want to risk them.... IMO the pig will be a starter in the confed cup, he and ballack are our best offensive midfielders.

Agreed, and when Deisler is on his game he ranks right up there too.

LOOOOL Timo Bambino :laugh great nickname :laugh Basti Fantasti is class...maybe he scores against Russia, too :D
And about Olli. I think he must be our #1 for the World Cup 2006. He got back to his old form and knows the big pressure of such a tournament. Timo will get his chance. He's still young and needs some more international experience. Maybe he'll play the Euro 2008.

better we switch back to the subject. This gay talk makes me puke after all he beer I had....
Schweinsteiger plays great. Podolski is nice also. else, well...
Ballack and Frings are average and Schneider really NEEDS to be subbed. He looks like a grandma near death. I want to see Deisler. IMO it was really stupid to play Schneider. He needs a rest. I think we will win this game 3:1 if Deisler will come in

The Russian goal was a kind of "wake up" :laugh Though, our team was better in the first halftime. I think this match is better than the NorthIreland one. More kombination, more will and they try to fight for each ball. The defense is better too, but the boys still make mistakes.
I haven't seen so much of Balla yet. Maybe in the 2nd half.
Good goal by "The Pig"...Poldi and him are a good team ;-) :drinkbeer

Hehe...If my tastes had run that way it would have been a bonanza.
What I had in mind was really how easy it was. Seldom any trouble, the "dealers" was always giving me free "samples" to make sure I turned a blind eye (As I was instructed to do by the owners anyway...if it was a gay dealer). Free booze, free food, free advice (loads of lawyers, doctors and such..)
I even earned some extra now and then by doing security for nervous old queens that wanted a bodyguard on their way home.
And as I was straight I was sort of excluded from the really vicious gossip that was going around...That was the only thing that got on my nerves, the regulars enjoyed gossip more than booze and sex really.

MOENCHENGLADBACH, Germany (AP) - Alexander Kerzhakov scored in injury time Wednesday to give Russia a 2-2 draw against Germany and spoil its dress rehearsal for the upcoming Confederations Cup.
Russia took the lead in the 27th minute on a goal by Alexander Anyukov, but Bastian Schweinsteiger scored his first two goals for Germany in the 31st and 69th minutes to put the World Cup runners-up in control.
The late Russian goal caught the Germans by surprise when Andrei Arshavin broke through on the right and cut across the goal with Kerzhakov sliding to tap it home. Oliver Kahn had run off his line to challenge Arshavin, but he easily rounded the German goalkeeper before passing to Kerzhakov.
"Both goals we conceded came because we were lacking concentration," Germany coach Juergen Klinsmann said. "We were not fast enough in challenging them. That's something we'll have to work on, and we have a lot of work before us."
Klinsmann surprisingly left striker Kevin Kurayni off the starting lineup.
A hard, mistimed tackle by Michael Ballack 10 minutes into the game injured Marat Izmailov - the Russian midfielder being stretchered off and replaced by Sergei Seamk.
German striker Lukas Podolski had two early attempts on goal, while Kahn was tested after 22 minutes when the 'keeper had to stretch to palm away Seamk's shot from 20 meters.
Five moments later, Russia scored after a classy through ball by Yevgeny Aldonin allowed Anyukov to net through Kahn's legs.
Germany replied soon after when Schweinsteiger finished off a move with a low shot to the right corner of 'keeper Sergei Ovchinnikov's goal.
"I'm glad I scored, but we are all unhappy with the result," Schweinsteiger said. "The mood in the dressing room wasn't exactly great."
Germany had trouble breaking down the Russian defense in the second half, but Schweinsteiger faked two Russians on the edge of the area and slotted home a right-foot shot.
"Russia is not a super team and a draw was not enough," Schweinsteiger said.
Germany should have scored again but Ballack's shot from three meters was punched over by Ovchinnikov's amazing reflex save. The Germans were then made to pay for Ballack's miss when Kerzhakov pounced with time up.
