Hello,
I am new to this Forum Community.
Guess I better introduce myself.
Warn you my English is really bad
My name is Uwe .I am living in Germany
There are some guys from Frankfurt here
and most people overseas know Frankfurt.
I am living 100 mi north of Franfurt but
not a fan of this football (soccer)team.
Cause Schalke rules the football world :D
I am a member and got a saison ticket.
There were so much up and going down
in our Schalke life in the past years but we
the fans and members followed our club.
We are the second largest club in Germany
(only one club in the south almost Northern Italy has more members)
Dont remember the name
Cause we hate them like these yellow b...ds
which Arsenal is playing in the Champions League.
As a Schalke Fan you are not allowed to use this
word so we call them Doofmund.
My favourite club in England for years is ManU.
Been at Old Trafford when they played vers Chelsea.
Got a ticket cause a friend of mine is a member of ManU.
Thats it for now

Hello, before going to today UEFA Cup match I have some news for you from the FC Schalke 04 website.
:P
(11.11.2002) One day before his 55th birthday Pete Kuharcek, head coach of NFLE outfit Rhein Fire for the last three years, made his first official visit to the Arena AufSchalke. The two-time World Bowl winner was impressed by his team's new home, while Schalke's general manager Rudi Assauer announced more details on the possibility of a former Schalke player trying out as kicker for the American footballers.
It was clear for all to see that Kuharcek felt at home in the Arena AufSchalke. "It is the biggest and most impressive stadium I've ever seen", the head coach admitted, despite all his NFL experience. "It will be a great honour for us to play alongside Schalke in the same stadium. As a club you can compare Schalke with the Green Bay Packers with their great tradition or Notre Dame in College Football. I come from a mining family myself as both my father and my grandfather worked underground in Pennsylvania". A revelation that visibly pleased Rudi Assauer: "I wasn't aware of that. It makes things even more interesting for us".
There was an important background to Kuharcek's visit. The head coach came not only to gain an insight into the conditions under which his team will play, but also to locate a training ground for the period between mid-March and mid-June and a team hotel in the local area. And although Kuharcek travels to Frankfurt for an NFLE meeting this week, he said he would do everything in his power to be able to watch Schalke's UEFA Cup home game against Legia Warsaw on Thursday. "He is more than welcome", said Rudi Assauer.
Rhein Fire are also looking for a kicker from the Schalke family. No decision has been taken yet, but Assauer did shed some more light on the issue, saying: "Mike Büskens has been ruled out because he's working for us in another area and with Olaf Thon we'll have to wait and see whether his foot injury will allow him to get involved in this kind of activity". Ingo Anderbrügge's name has also been mentioned in this connection. "He's got a good shot on him", acknowledged Assauer. Press director Markus Müller was keen to point out, however, "that the kicker's job is no easy one. A suitable candidate will have to train with the team for four months".
:P

Schalke scored an important coup on Sunday evening with a well-earned 2-0 derby win at VfL Bochum. "It keeps us in touch at the top", said a delighted Frank Neubarth after an own goal by Raymond Kalla just after the restart and a cool finish from Gerald Asamoah four minutes from time clinched all three points.
The personnel situation before the kick-off in the Ruhr Stadium was anything but ideal. Besides Agali, Waldoch, van Kerckhoven, Varela and the suspended Rost, first-team regulars six and seven Jörg Böhme (personal reasons) and Emile Mpenza (flu) also had to withdraw. To reinforce the tactical concept, Frank Neubarth elected to replace Mpenza with Abdul Iyodo, a young Nigerian striker who is extremely quick off the mark.
Schalke could have gone in front as early as the third minute when Bochum defender Raymond Kalla directed the ball past his own goalkeeper. Andreas Möller sprinted to the byline to retrieve the ball but his shot from a narrow angle smacked against the post. Almost immediately, Dariusz Wosz forced a brilliant save from Oliver Reck with a drive from 14 metres. These opening salvos set the tone for an excellent first half. After eight minutes Tomasz Hajto pulled off a fine last-ditch tackle to end a solo run by Paul Freier. At the other end Ebbe Sand headed a long-throw-in from the Polish central defender just over the goal. Midway through the half Bochum twice went close to opening the scoring. First, Danish striker Thomas Christiansen hammered a Delron Buckley centre against the crossbar and then he headed wide from ten metres.
Frank Neubarth later conceded that his players had momentarily lost their concentration at that point but they did recover to create a number of excellent chances before the break. On 25 the unmarked Sand completely missed his kick on the edge of the six-yard box, and seven minutes later Iyodo could only hit the side netting. Then, Bochum keeper Rein van Duijnhoven sustained a thigh injury saving a 25-metre cracker from Sand. And although the Dutchman was able to defuse a free-kick from Hajto a minute before half-time, he was unable to reappear for the second half.
Three minutes after the restart there was nothing his deputy Christian Vander could do when Kalla deflected a cross from Möller into his own net. Yet Neubarth was not completely happy with his side's performance after taking the lead. "We were a touch too passive and should have looked to kill off the game sooner than we did". As it was, this honour fell to the hard-working Gerald Asamoah, who slipped the ball through Vander's legs for Schalke's second four minutes from the end. But after seeing his side climb to fourth place in the table Neubarth was able to breathe a sigh of relief: "If we had lost today, we really would have been off the pace".

waht does everyone think of schalke's chances in the UEFA Cup??? considering it is our 'pet' event after having already conquering it ,we've had a relatively easy run so far, and i ge nuinely believe only liverpool are the team we can't beat. but hopefully one of the other top teams such as PSG or leeds, lazio or berlin can knock them off beforehand and tehn i think we can have a real crack.

what!! IT´s only few miles (maybe 25km) from Münster!!
To me everythingin Nordrhein-Westfalen = Westfalen. I understand that Hannover is not Westfalen anymore. On the other hand you could be right - it doesn´t rain as much in Osnabruck as in Munster!!

Just came back from the Arena Auf Schalke.
2:2 vers Rostock after a 2:0 lead .
Ebbe Sand and Emile Mpenza had scored for Schalke.
Schalke is now on 5th place behind Dortmund (4th)
who lost in Wolfsburg.
So that made the day a bid brighter.
Nevertheless most of us were angry about the two mistakes
1 )by Nils Oude Kamphuis who passed the ball direct to a Rostock
player who stood totatly alone in front of Frank Rost and scored
for 1:2 (50min)
and
2)late (85 Min) 2:2
seemed to us most Players stopped playing forward and already thought about Thursdays UEFA Cup match after the 2:0 lead.
We could have been on 3rd place but now...

2Bremen

I go to ev every Schalke game at the "Arena aufSchalke".
Got a season ticket already in the old Parkstadion.
You must have been there in 88
Now its totally different
Its best stadium I ve ever visited.
The "Arena auf Schalke"got their own Website.
But its only available in German,I think.
Link in my last posting here.
Beer is still good :D
except in international games when only non-alcoholic
beer and soft drinks are sold (F... UEFA)and
The stadium is a all seater then (see above)
But we are going to the matches because Schalke is
playing there not because of beer or other teams :D :D
Arena was sold out vers Gomel and vers Arsenal ,it makes no difference .Some say a least 10.000 would come when
someone switches on the lights for testing in the stadium.
Thats the difference to Bayern Munich they got spectators
Schalke got Fans.

Last weeks match ,the West-derby vers Moenchengladbach was sold out with a att.
I saw the game at DSF, Möchengladbach was the better side:
Strasser - excellent player, want to see more of him
Demo - decent
Kluge - very good, think he´s young? Has a bright future.
Eberl - the thug, uuhh..
In the match I also noticed (don´t know if all Bundesliga matches are like this, not in my experience) lots of DIVING and PLAY ACTING. Players from both teams were trying to get the other side players send off. Also lots of talking and whining after whistles. The ref didn´t give much cards, guess he saw it was all provocation&stuff.
Poulsen was hot headed all game, surprised he stayed on. Sand was invisible. Hajto was very good. But I can see Schalke basic problem is scoring..
Schalke - Bielefeld

French international Johan Micoud, who scored the only goal in Werder Bremen´s surprise defeat of Bayern Munich at the weekend, is being wooed by Schalke 04.
According to Kicker magazine on Monday Schalke´s manager Rudi Assauer has approached the 29-year-old to find out whether he would be keen on a move before his contract with Bremen runs out in 2005.
But the idea of Micoud leaving got short shrift from his club´s sports director, Klaus Allofs.
"We too are interested in lots of players but we don´t get them. Apparently each year Schalke want one of our team, but it´s not on," he declared.
And Werder coach Thomas Schaaf had some advice for his oppposite number at Schalke.
"If Schalke have a problem with a position they should sort it out with the players they´ve got already," Schaaf suggested drily.
While Micoud has not said one way or the other whether he wants a change of scenery he did point out to Kicker that he didn´t need a special clause in his contract to leave the club.
French playmaker Micoud drove home after 13 minutes to keep Bayern on their toes and reduce the gap between them and nearest rivals Stuttgart to 11 points as they pursue an 18th title.

Following the signing of VfB Stuttgart winger Jochen Seitz in December Schalke today announced their second new acquisition for the coming season. Simon Cziommer is to join the Royal Blues on a free transfer with effect from 1 July 2003. The 22-year-old German midfielder is currently on the books of the Dutch top-flight side Twente Enschede, where he has won a regular place in attacking midfield. He can also be used in defence, however.
Born in Schüttorf, just across the German border from Enschede, Cziommer joined FC Twente in 1998 and signed professional terms a year later. The young German first attracted the attention of his future club in January of last year when a Schalke reserve side took on Enschede in a friendly. The Royal Blues won the match 4-2, but Cziommer did enough to catch the eye of Mike Büskens. The Schalke defender urged general manager Rudi Assauer to go and watch him, and not only because of the goal he scored by lobbing Schalke keeper Frode Grodas from the halfway line.
"We've had Simon watched several times in recent months and he has impressed us. He's a young man who gives us high hopes for the future and is sure to be of help to us in the near future", said Assauer, delighted at securing the services of the former Germany youth international. The Royal Blues had to move fast to clinch the deal, though, as Cziommer was close to making the switch to Feyenoord. "I was honoured to be approached by Schalke, who are after all one of the most famous teams in Germany. I'm convinced I'll improve here and be able to help the club progress", said Cziommer after putting pen to paper on a deal that will tie him to the club until 30 June 2006.

(06.02.2003) What have Timmy Simons (FC Bruges), Levan Kobiashvili (SC Freiburg) and twins Halil and Hamit Altintop (Wattenscheid 09) got in common? Answer: they're all being linked with a move to Schalke in the coming season. Today Rudi Assauer responded to the rumours for the first time.
The Schalke general manager confirmed the club were interested in Simons, who featured in Belgium's World Cup squad last summer. "We asked Bruges about the possibility of signing him and were told it wasn't an option, so for us the matter is closed for now." The 58-year-old explained why the case was proving so difficult by way of the following example: "If no talks are held with the club because the president isn't interested in holding talks, what are we supposed to do?" What is more, Simons is still contracted to the Belgian champions.
The rumours concerning Kobiashvili received short shrift from Assauer: "I don't know where that comes from. We don't get involved in speculation".
Assauer was slightly more forthcoming about the club's interest in twins Hamit and Halil Altintop of Wattenscheid 09. "We've had two meetings with Hannes Bongartz, nothing more, nothing less". The former Schalke playmaker is manager-coach at the third division outfit. "Hannes has now gone away to training camp with the team. He told us he would let us know his view of things when they come back," explained Assauer. The talented 20-year-olds are being chased by several Bundesliga sides. "They're rather like a life insurance policy for the club," he added.
The general manager readily admitted that the club were keeping a close eye on the situation. "They're interesting players, especially as they both come from Gelsenkirchen. On the other hand you have to consider what we're after. One is a midfielder, and we've already signed a young player in Simon Cziommer for that position. The other is a striker, and there we've got Mike Hanke. But when you've got players like that on your doorstep, you have to give it some thought."

Hajto.. he never seems to stick out much from my opinion... but maybe thats a good thing? does his job, not flashy
both are very good players, and i think Schalke have actually thought of signing polish a polish striker, but no specific name has been mentioned.
any good polish strikers in polska league that you could recommend?

Not really - the only one which suits Bundesliga style is already playing there - Wichniarek. Arminia and on his way to Hertha.

Today was first training "Auf Schalke" under Don Jupp :P
5000 fans joined the party and saw 27 of Schalkes 29 players
today (van Hoogdalem and Djordjevic were missing)
We drove the 100 mi to Schalke to see at the good training
and at the end a match "old team" vers "new players +subs"
Was quite interesting to see
Only Emile Mpenza(and the both mentioned above)did not take part.
He was training his fitness beside the field.

Anyone who wants to go there someday
You can find the times of training on the Schalke04 website.

Can sit there drinking beer and see the player sweat ;)

I am in the pro-Boehme camp-he can be the most skillfull player in Germany on his day,yet a alck of consistency and injuries have severely curtailed his career over the last 2 years.

From the Schalke website:
>>>>>>>>>>>>
Schalke came within seconds of achieving the longed-for opening-day win in the derby clash with Borussia Dortmund on Saturday afternoon. After new signing Hamit Altintop had given them a two-goal lead in front of 61,014 fans in the Arena AufSchalke the Royal Blues seemed well on the way to victory, but the visitors hit back with strikes from Conceicao on 65 minutes and Amoroso in stoppage time. To make matters worse, Gerald Asamoah was red-carded, and both Eduardo Alcides and Gustavo Varela had to go off injured.

Two new injuries and now in Liberec on Wednesday and Munich on Saturday.

Recovery continues – Royal Blues win 2-0 at Kaiserslautern
Schalke 04 are back within touch of European competition places! After goals from Gerald Asamoah (6 mins.) and Victor Agali (85 mins.), the Royal Blues ran out 2-0 winners at Kaiserslautern. “Overal we weren’t as good as we’ve been in the last few games”, said coach Jupp Heynckes, analysing the match after the final whistle. “But we were very compact in defence.”
The Royal Blues started the game in the Fritz Walter Stadium at a furious pace and should have had a penatly after only four minutes. Hamit Altintop dribbled into the penalty area from out on the right and was crudely knocked off the ball by Bill Tchato. The TV pictures later provided definitive proof that it was a penalty, but referee Peter Sippel waved play on.
But even without getting that penalty, the visitors went ahead just two minutes later. Jochen Seitz set off on a sprint from the half-way line, put over a great cross right into the path of Gerald Asamoah, who sent a low shot into the left-hand corner of the net from 12 metres out.
Kaiserslautern, who began the game nervously and seemed very suspect in defence early on, also had reason to rue their luck in the 16th minute when they too were refused a penalty. A shot from Kamil Kosowski was stopped on the goal-line by Tomasz Hajto, and TV pictures showed that the Polish international had used his left hand to help make the clearance. Just ten minutes later, the hosts’ fans were again on their feet ready to cheer a goal as former Schalke player Markus Angang latched onto a half-cleared corner and fired his 20-metre shot a mere hair’s breadth past the right-hand post.
But now Schalke again pressed forward determinedly. On 29 minutes, Asamoah, again looking very sharp, set up Hamit Altintop. But Altintop fell as he shot and missed from 12 metres out in the inside-right channel. A minute later, Schalke goalkeeper Frank Rost had to be on his toes to tip over a header by Marian Hristov from 10 metres out, and three mintutes after that, Sven Vermant had to knock a header from Halil Altintop away to safety from just in-front of his own goal-line.
Coach Jupp Heynckes reacted quickly to these threats. In the 40th minute, with his team ahead and now looking to hit Kaiserlautern on the counter, he brought on Victor Agali for Mike Hanke, more of a penalty box poacher.
After the break, however, the Royal Blues failed for a long time to create the counter-attacks they were hoping for. Nevertheless, the Schalke defence always looked secure, reading the game well as they cleared their lines of numerous corners and freekicks. At the end of the day, the hosts only looked really dangerous once after the break, when Jose Dominguez played his way into the area from out on the left, but shot over the bar from eight metres (48 mins).
It wasn’t until the last ten minutes that Schalke again posed any real threat to Tim Wiese in the Kaiserslautern goal. And after Hamit Altintop had himself missed two good chances in the 80th and 82nd minutes, the Turkish under-21 international set up Victor Agali five minutes from time, and Agali fired home from six metres to seal Schalke’s 2-0 win.
Kaiserslautern: Wiese - Riedl, Mettomo, Tchato, Malz (Glibo, 87 mins) - Dominguez (Bjelica, 79), Christow, Anfang, Kosowski (Nurmela, 72) - Lincoln, Halil Altintop
Schalke: Rost - Hajto, Kläsener, Rodriguez, van Kerckhoven - Seitz (Matellan, 82), Oude Kamphuis, Vermant, Hamit Altintop - Hanke (Agali, 40), Asamoah (Poulsen, 40)
Referee: Sippel (Munich)
Goals: 0-1 Asamoah (6), 0-2 Agali (85)
Attendance: 40,034
Yellow cards: Christow, Riedl - Agali, Vermant
