Sammer leaves Stuttgart
by Peter ORourke - created on 3 Jun 2005
Matthias Sammer is quitting Stuttgart after just one year in charge.
The former Germany international took charge at the Gottlieb-Daimler Stadion after leaving Borussia Dortmund.
Sammer replaced Felix Magath at Stuttgart and signed a three-year contract.
However, Sammer has not been able to repeat the success of Magath at Stuttgart. Stuttgart missed out on a place in next season's UEFA Champions League after finishing fifth.
"This was not an easy decision," said Stuttgart president Erwin Staudt. "But along with Matthias, we came to the conclusion that it was the correct one. We thank Matthias for his work here."
Hmmm...that's a surprise for me. But I think it's the right decision. The team wasn't a team anymore, he couldn't handle them. Just didn't fit, now I'm wondering who will get the job
What do you think about Hitzfeld?

VFB now decide to become ambitious!
IF VFB have ambitions they could be the third best team after Bayern and Schalke. We have aloft of young good players so we need to be doing better yet we are only ambitious when we want to be!
Hitzfeld is a good name-yet I wonder if he is too tired ?
Hiddink for me ...Soldo as coach ?
Daum returning would be great-he would add so much goods fun..Toppmoller ?

Yeah, Hitzfeld came first to my mind, don't know if he's too expensive...Bild said he'd cost us 4mio. per year. (Du weist bestimmt wie Schwaben sind wenns ums Geld geht:D)
Hiddink would be very good too. Daum already signed a new contract with Fenerbace, and Toppmüller wouldn't be my choice.

I don't think that hidiink would leave psv for stuttgart, Co adrianse would of been a good choice if he hadn't of gone to porto.

I wouldnt be that suprised if Balakov gets the job. he has said on many occasions that he wants to manage is own team, but i think that stuttgart is a little big for him right now. I think that former cameron manager wilfred schafer would be an ideal choice.
I hope Hitzfeld doesnt apply or get the job. he simply deserves a bigger club like Man U, or Milan.

I don't think Hitzfeld would cope with a big club now.Stuttgart might be good for him-he's from near here and Stuttgart is hardly a football hot bed like the Ruhr.Football here has its place alongside art and music.Expectations would be top 3 in the league-not as much pressure as Milan or Manchester.
And the wine is good here...
Timonator-where are you living ??

My family live near Neukirchen-Vluyn and we hate this name. The wine I drink comes out of Baden-Württemberg but never have been there except driving through it to get to another place/country. But Stuttgart will be one of my first choices when looking for a job after study. Munich is first. :drinkbeer
