Sammer leaves Stuttgart
by Peter ORourke -

Matthias Sammer is quitting Stuttgart after just one year in charge.

The former Germany international took charge at the Gottlieb-Daimler Stadion after leaving Borussia Dortmund.

Sammer replaced Felix Magath at Stuttgart and signed a three-year contract.

However, Sammer has not been able to repeat the success of Magath at Stuttgart.

Stuttgart missed out on a place in next season's UEFA Champions League after finishing fifth.

"This was not an easy decision," said Stuttgart president Erwin Staudt.

"But along with Matthias, we came to the conclusion that it was the correct one. We thank Matthias for his work here."

Stuttgart was about to loose its image as a care-free, playing fun-football team. Sammer with his pigheaded discipline fanatism managed to destroy the fun the players have in playing football. I hope Sammer will think about it and will adjust his coaching methods. If not he wont be a coach with a great future.

They will love it when Otto Rehagel takes over...:woot

Just joking...But was the "happy go lucky" way of football really working for VfB?

It looks like Walter? Schachner will take over. Hes an austrian yodeling champion out of the austrian alps. He could be up the task to entertain the demanding Stuttgart fans with his skills

To be honest I´m not really sure that VfB should try so desperately to become a "big" club...Not unless their fans turn up in greater numbers to boost their finances.

They might end up like a new Kaiserslautern....

As for BMG they "just" have to weather the storm for a few seasons and they will be back in black. At least I think so..
