hargreaves signing a new deal?

Bayern Munich are set to offer England midfielder Owen Hargreaves an extension to his current contract in an attempt to quell interest from the Premiership.

The 21-year-old, who has grown in stature at Bayern over the past two seasons and also graduated to the full England squad, has reportedly been target of several English sides, including last season's double winners Arsenal.



But the player is keen to remain in Bavaria and is set to put pen to paper on a deal which will see him extend his current contract which is due to expire in 2004.



Bayern's vice-president Karl-Heinz Rummenigge told Kicker magazine: 'We know that he is an extraordinary player and we want him to stay longer at Bayern Munich.'



Hargreaves, who faces further competition at the Olympic Stadium following the summer additions of Michael Ballack and Ze Roberto, said: 'I think my future is in Munich. Although I'm proud that there were some Premier League clubs interested.'

for him to want to stay at bayern , instead of returning home, certainly must say something about the structure bayern have and how much they going to do over the next couple of seasons. All i can really say is that Hargreaves is Bloody good player, and i see why there was a lot of interest from the EPL clubs, but bayern will get good valur out of him. Perhaps his signing is a sign of how much stronger the bundesliga is becoming once again and could perhaps take the coverted third spot in the UEFA rankings off england, and get the 4 champs leagues places?

heard on eurosport.com that owen hargreaves has decided to re-sign with bayern and is negotiating the contract now.. rumour says he will extend his current contract to 2006
