Saturday
Bielefeld - Schalke 2-1
Dortmund - Gladbach 1-0
Cottbus - Wolfsburg 0-1
Rostock - Hannover 1-2
Hamburg - Stuttgart 3-2
Leverkusen - Bayern 2-1
1860 - Hertha 1-0
Sunday
Bochum - Bremen 1-4
Nurnberg - Lautern 1-0
Quite a lot to read into from the results IMO. We had a very winnable game against bielefeld obn saturday, but as most teams have expecriebnced there this year, it was a loss. What i ve noticed with newly promoted teams (and this is the case in all european leagues ) is that they often start of with a good record at home (bielefeld have won 3 of 4). I dpont know why but i presume it would be something to do with the opposition having never played at the ground previously and therefore in unfamiliar surroundings and atmosphere etc...perhaps?? Cottbus have not only consolidated there place in bundesliga 2 next year, but are on there way to perhaps the worst performance of any team in the league for quite a while. 1860 had a fantastic result for themselves, with a good win over Hertha, which was probably unexpected, as Hertha had just started to get gpoing after a sluggish start. Leverkusen, down to 10 men, had perhaps one of the most surprising results, with 2-1 over munich. although i read somewhere that toppmoller said he expected a result like that because they played well in the champs league midweek (but lost i thought?? gov figure). it brings bayern back a bit ,and dortmund are only 2 points behind, so that could be a very interesting race. Bochum's fairytale start to the year has also finished painfully with a big loss to mediocre bremen at home, which i beleive will set them up for the bundesliga 2 next year as well.
