Was in the pub last night, and saw a mate in there, so we stopped and had a chat with them. Ended up with them all night, as it happens.

Anyway, after a few hours, it suddenly occurred to us there was a right funny situation going on.

Two English bods
One German
One Belgian
And two noggies. One of which was from Trønderlag, so she can count as 'foreign' too :D

And we were ALL Vålerenga supporters.

Truly the team for immigrants :)

That'll be because Man City got knocked out by Groclin in UEFA so didn't make it to the 3rd round. We ended up with Newcastle instead. :P

Vålerenga is the East Oslo team, which is traditionally the part of town immigrants lived cos it was/is cheaper housing. So it is the "immigrants’ team".

The club has also been actively working over the last 10years against racism.

heh, I know :D Couldn't resist though ;)

Actually was watching the Groclin - Man City game in a pub in Krakow, *very* quietly cheering City on, since the locals were supporting the Polsk team :)


No worries, I have a tonne of useless information stored I can bore people with :D

No wonder you get on with ticcan so well :laugh

I don't pay attention to much football outside of the English Leagues to be honest, but enough to know we ended up playing ****e teams in europe and still going out :(

Tho it has to be said that the old supporter club of Vålerenga, Apeberget were the biggest racist problem in Norwegian sport only 10 years ago. They threw bananas at black players and the fan club also consisted of nazist groups. I'm not too impressed by your little 'story' tho. ;) In my class at Hellerud there was only one person with two Norwegian parents (me, French).

aye, that was partly why 'Klanen' was formed. Been damn successful with us too, unlike some other teams who still have 'problems'.


somewhat surreally also, my German mate is a 'Macclesfield Town sympathiser' cos his home town is twinned with Macclesfield.

Guess who Stags are ******* losing to today....

Yeh, I know. I remember the Russell incident at Fosshaugane almost 2 years ago.
