Schalke 04, runners-up two seasons ago, drew 1-1 at Stuttgart to move into fourth spot, a point ahead of Borussia Monchengladbach, who won 2-1 at winless Hertha Berlin on Tuesday to prompt some calls for the resignation of Berlin coach Huub Stevens, just recruited from Schalke.

Former Bayern international midfield ace Stefan Effenberg scored his first goal for new club Wolfsburg from the penalty spot and Ghanaian midfielder Hans Sarpei added a late winner to despatch Hamburg 2-1, Roda Antar scoring a consolation.

i wonder how much effenberg will contribute to wolfsburgs midfield this season. seems to have started alright.
it would have bben great (obviuosly )for schalke to get the three points at stuttgart, it was a difficult ask though but i read that schalke controlled much of the game and its a pity that in the end we needed a penalty to just draw level.
Leverkusen may be back to their winning ways as well which will be good for the league.
