The referee at the centre of Germany's match-fixing scandal has been arrested. Berlin prosecutors revealed Robert Hoyzer was arrested on Saturday. "Police executed the warrant today and arrested Robert Hoyzer in Berlin," the prosecutors' office said in a statement. "The background for the arrest is a changed assessment of the risk of flight." The referee, who had yet to take charge of a Bundesliga match, is suspected of manipulating the results of at least five games, including the DFB Cup clash between Paderborn and Hamburg earlier this season. Hoyzer, who is one of 25 people under investigation by Berlin Prosecutors, admitted he had fixed games for money as part of an illegal betting scam. Three other men are in custody on suspicion of committing fraud as part of an organised gang suspected of having fixed the results of at least 10 matches.
