Hamburg eye Matip swoop
by Chris Ives - created on 11 Feb 2005
Bundesliga outfit Hamburg are reportedly on the trail of Germany Under-21 international Marvin Matip.
The talented 19-year-old stopper has impressed this term for Bochum and has now seemingly caught the attention of Hamburg.
Matip is set to leave the Ruhrstadion at the close of the season after failing to agree terms over a new deal and falling out with the club's management.
According to Kicker, HSV chief scout Michael Schroder watched Matip in midweek against Wales Under-21s at the Racecourse Ground.
It is widely thought that Hamburg will make a concrete offer in the not too distant future for the player's services.
