Unlike England, Holland, France, Brazil, Argentina........., Germany players are always be famous only when they are not young any more. Like Ballack (25), Frings (25), Neuville (29), Schneider (29), Rehmer (31), Bierhoff (known when 28!), Kahn (now 33!).
One important reason is that there are too few talented youngsters in the previous years.
But hope is coming again. Obviously there have been more and more good young players coming out recently. I'd like to point out some for your comments:
Age 21-23:
1. Deisler (22) - undoubtedly one of the best players in the world if he can fully recover from injuiry.
2. Metzelder (21) - has proven good in WC.
3. Kehl (22) - talented and has leading ability, can be future German captain.
4. Hanno Balitsch (21) - if getting to be start line-up in Leverkusen, he will be brilliant for Germany.
5. Christoph Preu?(21) - like Balitsch, the first is to have performing chance in the club.
6. Daniel Bierofka (23) - Voller likes to choose youngsters and he is the rare new comer who had scored for national team. Has little chance to perform before, but will be well-known in Leverkusen, like the above two.
7. Benjamin Auer (21) - hopefully he will follow Klinesman's scoring ability!!
8. Tim Borowski (22) - another new face having represented the national.
9. Fabian Ernst (23) - another new face having represented the national.
10. Paul Freier (23) - another new face having represented the national.
