Hartmann and Rehmer can leave Hertha

The Hertha manager Dieter Hoeneß has been very busy lately. After an age of negotiations he finally persuaded the club skipper Arne Freidrich to stay at the club until 2007, instead of opting for either Bayern Munich or indeed Schalke. That was only the beginning, because Hoeneß knows there are many more talks to be held at Hertha...

Kovac on the cards

“From January 2005 onwards, we will begin holding. Croatian defender Niko Kovac looks likely top be the next player to receive a contract extension. Should the former Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen hard man reach 25 first team appearances this season, his contract will be automatically extended by one year…a near certainty according to Hoeneß.

(Don't agree with this. He's 33 now. Let the youngsters play.)

Both veterans are now free agents

Not every player has such a rosy future at the capital city club. Coach Falko Götz is talking of a “break-up” period to happen next year and says that there will only be one winner as the result of it (the club). The Kicker sport magazine claims that both Marko Rehmer (32) and Michael Hartmann (30) have been told that they can leave the club at the winter break…6 months before their respective contracts expire. It seems as if both players will be allowed to move on a free transfer. Marko Rehmer is considering his future: “If an interested club comes in for me, I’m prepared to listen,” said the former German international defender.
