Tottenham defender Thimothee Atouba has denied a Football Association charge of violent conduct.

The former Basel ace was charged on Monday following an incident involving Paul Dickov during his side's win over Blackburn last weekend.

The Cameroon international clashed with Dickov in an off-the-ball episode missed by match official Mike Dean.

The case will be heard by an FA disciplinary commission on Friday.

Meanwhile, Spurs have been hit with the news that young midfielder Reto Ziegler is facing up to three weeks on the sidelines after picking up a hamstring injury at Blackburn.

The Swiss Under-21 international has impressed lately after getting his chance in the first team, but he will now miss his side's next few games.

Atouba escapes punishment from FA

Report: Blackburn 0-1 Tottenham
Tottenham midfielder Thimothee Atouba has been cleared of violent conduct at a Football Association hearing.

Atouba was charged by the FA for an incident during the win at Blackburn on Saturday - where he appeared to make off-the-ball contact with Paul Dickov.

But a disciplinary panel found the Cameroonian not guilty and he will now not be forced to serve a suspension.

The news comes as a boost to Spurs boss Martin Jol who has seen injury problems mount up at White Hart Lane this week.

Atouba has played the last few games at left-back due to Erik Edman's injury, but the Swede's return should see Atouba play in his usual position at left-wing.

Atouba, 22, joined Spurs on a free transfer from FC Basle in August and has made 11 appearances this season.
