Martin Jol has warned Spurs fans to curb their expectations and admits a top ten finish is the height of his ambitions this term. The Dutch coach insists he has a massive job on his hands to turn Tottenham into a side that can challenge for honours after several seasons in the doldrums. He remains confident he can revive the North Londoners' fortunes, but has called on supporters to remain realistic and patient. "People keep on telling me we have to live up to expectations," he stated. "We will be a big club but we are working on it and we can't say we are better than seven or eight other teams. "We are not a big team. We are not even a very good team yet.
"Spurs haven't been for the past couple of years. "We have to build a new team, maybe if we get into the first ten or 11 then I will be very happy.
"That would mean that it's not survival but revival. "Our supporters know exactly what is happening. They see we don't have Ronaldinho on the right or Arjen Robben on the left. They are realistic.
"We need results, but getting results, having new players and building a new team is a very difficult combination. "We have a good squad of players. We are lacking a couple of players. It is not about the great players you have, but about the players you don't have sometimes."
