Muller blow for Hertha
by Chris Ives - Last Updated 18 Nov 2004
Hertha Berlin youngster Christian Muller will be out of action for six months after suffering a double fracture on Tuesday.
The 20-year-old attacking midfielder, who had broken into Hertha's first team this season, suffered fractures to both his shin-bone and fibula.
Muller picked up the injury after a tackle just two minutes into his debut for the German Under-21 team against Poland in Cottbus.
Muller was taken to Berlin by helicopter and operated on immediately, but despite the prompt action faces a six-month lay-off.
It will come as a huge blow to the youngster, whose rise to prominence this season under coach Falko Gotz (pictured) has left pundits predicting great things.
